I don't know what country you are from, so perhaps RL hasn't had an influence but in most European countries volenti non fit injuria is a concept of the civil law. If you are from Scotland or England, or a state which was colonized by GB then this concept is likely to be prevalent in actions of Tort/Delict for personal injury. In your example of bungee jumping if the person's rope snapped and was injured or died there would be an action of delict if there was negligence, but not otherwise...
