I was driving down south tacoma way when I saw a sign for genx 104.9. I was shocked at first to find the monkey off the air. Then i remembered that I stopped listening to it in 2004ish because they played the same songs over and over again and that in 2009ish I listened to another hours worth of it and it was the same songs from 5 years earlier.

Fuck this! I want my Monkey back!  I just remembered the song that was playing when I first tuned in on the fateful day they switched to the GenX programming. It was the 4 Non-Blondes song, "What's going on?"! In fact, it was in the middle and at the point in the song with the following lyrics,

I remember when the funky monkey first started as a radio station. I was with them since DAY ONE because I was so excited about the rock that they played. Better than The End at the time. I was a loyal listener and then I come home one day and I hear Eminem. At first I thought it was a joke but then I kept listening and now Im just freaking disappointed. I found the website listened for a few minutes and restarted my computer because it was acting slow. I watched a tv show I DVRd.
