  • do you, perchance, have a copy of the chords for this song? I'd love to be able to play it.

  • Wow, I always thought this was a real song before EGS. Until today, I had no idea Dan wrote it. I guess he's just that good at lyrics.

  • this is a wonderful rendition of the song, i have yet to hear a better version, add on top the scenario that this is taking place in, (because i doubt anyone who doesn't read el goonish shive watched this, pitty to its a good song even if you dont know the contexts) and it creates a wonderful enhancement to the comic as well as being a great song all on its own

  • Despite the fact that I like the other version of this song more, maybe cuz I heard it first, I do like the fact that this has no dislikes.

If you dislike this in response to my comment I will find and burn you. And where you live. And where you grew up.

  • I smell an emmy.....

  • That was really well done. You have my respect, that was beautiful.

  • Was that song aimed at Nanase? Or was it just a coincidence? Who knows?!

  • y'know...thinking about the fact this version is by two different girls, i realize...if you want the two girls effect, simply do the video with only one voice recording as normal, then add the recording a second time with a slight position difference. easy. "duet effect with a solo singer done easy."

  • The Longhaired girl is Elliot's alterntive sel from the Dream universe that our Ellen dreams of being. Ellen sleeps alot to "age her soul" up to her physical age of ...I bealieve..sixteen.

  • squee!

  • anyway I could get this song?

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched ur other one but I like this version better

  • Maybe you could try sniffing it, I lost the soundtrack :/

  • @LECyr4 I suggest downloading the video from youtube, there are various methods for most of webbrowsers. Then convert it into mp3 file...

  • What he said.

  • I wish el goonish was a tv show xD

  • @Kyotoshien Who knows, maybe Dan will suddenly learn to draw over 120 pictures per minute, which would allow him to produce a 30 minute episode a day with about 30 FPS smoothness.

Quite hardcore, but well... if he stretched this massive work over a month or two, maybe it wouldn't be so impossible with some help.

I doubt he would have wanted to try biting off more than he can chew though. Either Dan would need superhuman skills or LOTS LOTS of help to pull off something as crazy as this.

  • I'm glad that by the time I found EGS, and got to the song, someone had created this... It's beautiful. It gets in my head real deep and it won't leave, so I think I'll be boosting the views on this for some time.

A serious thanks to everyone who made this possible.

  • @apoc326 Woaw, thanks =)

I only clipped pics together to both songs, I wish I could show it to the singers and musicians...

  • Heh, the first thing I did after I read that particular comic was look for the song. For a little bit, all I found was people talking about it in forums, but thankfully I found this.

  • otherwise great job you both are amazing singers! I like the tune to the chorus a lot. I just think it should be a bit louder. You've both done a great job of bringing Ellen to a whole new dimention. Kudos for that. Dan should really email you his thanks. Fans that care enough to do these sort of things are what keep a series like his alive and loved. I've favorited your page by the way. keep singing! You both can really go places!

  • not to mention when you look at Ellen's facial expression during the "chorus" parts- the eyebrows being lowered towards her nose suggest she's singing louder with more emotion and effort in that part. These singers r great and have huge talent but should watch their own facial expression in a mirror when doing that part. I find that helps me know if Ive put the right amount of emotion and volume into parts of the songs I've written. Try not to make an expression volentarily and watch what u do

  • i love the meaning to the lyrics, though it seemed to be a clash of -these lines bother to ryme + keep similar syllable counts + these over here dont even bother- ignoring that in a chorus could make sense, but everywhere? I love the series but he should've picked one style or the other from a songwriters perspective. Just my own opinion though. I agree I imagined more forte emotional buildup in the chorus but then it was a heartache song so maybe a sad sound is best. good job! cakatoo hair-lol!

  • you know, at what could be called the 'chorus', i always imagined the song becoming more powerful, i guess, in how the tune goes and how its sung...kinda like...well, a good example song is Bring Me To Life. the power is moderate in the song until you hit the chorus, then the power and passion of the song just hits you head on. if you pay attention to Ellen at the chorus-esque bits of lyrics, you'd see what i mean as to why it seems like it'd be that way.

  • Its great to finally hear the song, its a little hard to imagine how it sounds from just reading the lyrics.

  • My goodness. I listened to both videos, by Lilfox and CK and also Lareth. Fantastic! It's so much better hearing someone put the song to music. I wonder, is mister Shive aware of this masterpiece? I myself would be flattered to hear lyrics I've written done so well, in both the male and female versions of the song.

  • I guess Dan has heard of'em, but it seems that he's never shown interest in any non-graphical fan work. Too bad.

  • Actually, the long-haired girl DOES exist. She is the Ellen from another dimension, the one with Kaoli and the same Ellen in this Ellen's dreams after the nose beep. Just thought I'd share.

Heh, Littlefox did a great job with the song. It makes me feel kinda sad when I listen to it though, because I know the meaning of it and it's touching and I'm a wuss. xDD I'm glad that I found this too. =P

  • (this is the same comment i put on the other version)

if dan shiver wrote the lyrics, how did lilfox & CK get them???

  • from the comic that he writes that the frames in the video are from, i assume.

  • Wow, that's a gorgeous voice o.o

  • Dude could you please send me the mp3

  • Sure, I can send them to you. I just need to-uh find where they are. Leave me you e-mail address in PM.

  • It would be awesome if you could send me the mp3 as well. Email is in a PM.

  • is there some way i could get a mp3 to this song? ^_^

  • Damn kinkoblast, I tried to shrink the plot a bit to keep watchers there! =P I didn't lie though.

  • Kirochi didn't mention that the long-haired girl is actually an alternate universe version of Ellen, the memories of whom the skimpy-dress main universe Ellen has up through around age 18.

It all makes sense, honest! Ok, maybe not from this post, but, um... Is that a Demonic Duck of some sort!?

  • you forgot to mention the magical nose beep!

  • True, true. But I don't want to spoil the story, let's all hail El Goonish Shive !

  • Huzzah!

  • Hey. Is that a demonic duck of some sort? *runs away*
