Trapping 101: Figure 4 Deadfall

hey ..i made a figure four trap for rabbits and its gone off about 1nce a day since i set it but with out anything in it....at first i was usin a big log but then i thought it could be too narrow and was missing so now im using an old table i found. It's about 3 ft wide and is definetlly heavy enough to trap a rabbit and i set the nothces just hanging on by a hair so the triggers not to sensitve iether. i also no the rabbits are setting it off cause i find fur wat am i doing wrong?

you made it and set it wrong.. you dont put the stick in the ground or itll keep up the rock

You should have made a flathead notch on the stick that holds up the rock but still a very nice trap

If I were you I wouldn't stick the upright into the ground; the rock might hit it on the way down and not fall all the way. It should be loose as well so it gets knocked out of the way.

and you can make spikes on the weighted portion by using a log or board with nails in it; for a board, put some rocks on top of it for weight.

in the foxfire book, there are 8 of them. (ask your parents about it, they might know about it)(an antique book, about people living in deliverance country...) they say to put spikes on the rock somehow...

yeah, I've flipped through those books alittle, but I never found anything about trapping in the books I saw. But I can't imagine that securing spikes somehow would be easy without really knowing how.
