  • honestly, this is creeping me out O.O

  • I watched at school in French...like 3 times!!

    French class 2010-11

    Oh Greta!

  • Why is this video inappropriate for minors?

I wouldn't be OK in the age of 8 years when I saw this film to be denied access in one of the greatest cinematic experiences of my whole life.

  • this is creepy

  • Haha! That's Josephine Baker!! :P The famous stripper!

  • Magnífico!

  • I hate that song, uhm it is funny :P

  • This sequence is meant to be a homage to the Fleischer cartoons of the early 30s.

The whole film is very well made.

  • Anyone who saw this 2003 movie as a kid is STILL a kid.

  • Je comprend pas comment ce film a pu plaire...

  • @johdu44 parce qu'il est unique

  • @sparkreno19 Ah ça pour être unique...il l'est!

  • I've watched this film a lot of times now and I never tire of it. Masterpiece!

  • Honestly, french cartoons are amazing

  • 1:03-1:33 reminds me of Camp Lazlo because if Lazlo was around, then it would be funnier.

  • Great film and music, one of the top-10 animated films I've seen!

  • Josephine Baker! I love this movie. :)

  • the first time i watchd this movie was last night and im already obsessed. i agree it is the best animation ever

  • j'ai vu ce film au féstival internationnal de cinéma d'annimation à Méknes "place l'Hdim c'etait vraimment un spéctacle fous !

  • why doesn't she have a shirt on?

  • @Bubblegumbirdie08 Because she was a real African dancer who fled from America because of racism and got a job as a dancer in a theater. One of her first pieces was to dance wearing nothing but a belt made from bananas. She gained publicity for this, and for all the hotels she couldn't stay in in America, she could stay in any hotel she wanted in France.

  • We were watching this in French Class. :D It was AWESOME~!

  • when i first saw this movie i was really confused on why they were so protective over their newspaper vaccuum and fridge...but then later revealed they were their instruments!!! this is such a good movie

  • Does anyone know who are all the artists that appear on this video... I only recognized Django and Fred :O

  • @KatakaChandra See Josephine Baker (1927) and Charles Trenet Boum on youtube

  • Still don't get the giant dancing fat person. That always weirded me out

  • @xSHUTxMExUPx69 That was a real person (although she wasn't that size) called Big Bertha. Our French teacher didn't elaborate after that.

  • @fueledbymanga - It's only in French. -_-

  • We watched this in French, it was really weird o_O

  • sweet black jugs

  • 1:14 very nice, like I really wanted to see that. Other than the naked woman good for young audiences.

  • pURE art!!!!

  • the film shows more life truths again silvain chomet seems to be overlooked. personally i think this film is art

  • I don't even know why i love this film so much , but that song is just to catchy :) .

  • A wonderful film, and "Belville Rendez-vous" is a great song. Sylvain Chomet's film "The Illusionist" comes out in a few months too!

  • Comment removed

  • Alors, je vois Django Reinhardt, Josephine Baker, Charles Trenet, Astair... qui d'autres?

  • I love this film and what's more my 7 year old daughter and 8 year old son adore this movie. It's one of their favorites over any Disney movie. I can understand people have different tastes but to completely overlook its importance and merit just because it isn't your cup of tea is beyond me. A great film

  • New Wave movies usually aren't really anyone's cup of tea from a conventional standpoint.

    -R78

  • super film !

  • this is the best film ever!!!! you underneath fucking idiot maybe think about what you say before you make a complete penis of yourself!!!!!!

  • well i can say, my ant is producer from this movie

and this movie was a big succes in belgium and france

so i say shut up to you and this movie is good :)

  • random? well you must like all the trash of hollywood then :D

  • hey ! grow up kid ! ! ! -_-'

  • I love the triplets of bellville its a funny & wierd video.

  • Also, it doesn't just poke fun at Americans. Notice the French Mafia all have red noses. It uses all kind of stereotypes C:

  • One of the best animated movies ever <33

I first saw it as a kid. I'm glad I re-watched it. I would have missed all the cameos.

  • @SirHand i first watched it as a kid my parents watched it first though and skipped this scene because of the bare breasted woman

  • @SirHand so you were a kid in 2003?

  • wtf?fred's shoes eat him?lool

  • i saw this in french class

  • @blubbers1 Sameee

  • this film is so symbolic

the fat americans, the skinny stars that get thrown out when they become too old, its a dig at the luxurious lifestyle of the western world, and that we over look what we need to to remain comfortable.

hee hee the dog barks at trains

  • I dont believe that this was social cometary on Americans being fat. If you notice only the women are fat. The film does take place in France. If anything that had to do with the relationship between husband and wife at 1:25 all the men turned into animals over the half naked dancer. In the western world as people age they get discarded while in other parts of the world it comes with honor, regardless of weight.

  • Don't know why, but any French animated movies, I'm scared of.

This one, and Le roi et L'oiseau, both of which we've watched in French.

They're both good films, but I don't know why, it just creeps me out :)

  • well at least you tried right?

  • OMG! best movie eva. watched in french class an itz unreal :)

  • I saw this in my French class too :D, i it goes into my top favorite animated movies, it's AWESOME

  • Who's gargantua at 2:38 supposed to be?

  • is there a way i can watch this movie as i have searched for a long time

  • netflix.

  • They have it on iTunes if you haven't found it yet.

  • i love it when you see the three ladies later giggling while they are eating these crazy little frogs

  • At :36 It's Harpo Marx! He's one of the Marx brothers.

  • No it's Charles Trenet, a famous french singer

  • 0:40 : Django Reinhart

    1:04 : Josephine Baker

    1:50 : Fred Astair

    but who's at 0:36?

  • at 0:36 it's charles trenet

  • scary

  • I'm scared...

  • i love this movie, such an inspiraring cartoooon<3

  • Humm ... That's pretty odd .
