I don't think shad ruined the song at all and Lights is a loving caring open person and can do whatever the hell she wants to the rapper is not singing "STUPID HOE STUPID HOE STUPID HOE" he's mature, and he's actually a good rapper there's a difference between the rappers you hear like lil wayne than shad.
It's also kind of weird too, Lights had enough faith and open mindedness(and good taste I might add) to switch it up and put rapping on her album, yet her fans are the ones that are being closed minded. You're basically hating on Lights for allowing rap to be featured on a track of hers. Not even taking the time to understand what he is rapping about, either smh
my friend is in a contest, trying to get his remix of this song on an official lights release: check it out, please? its on indabamusic. com his is the Fat Kids from Outer Space remix.
@kaveen11 The song is essentially about people all being the same and nobody is perfect. Everybody breaks a glass, meaning everyone makes a mistake sometime in there life, it is unavoidable.
Why doesn't anyone like the rapper? I think it fits into the song. Yes, it's different from all of her other songs but the stuff he raps is realistic and not about stupid crap. ^.^
@Theboywhosleptin Toes doesn't sound like this. It isn't so heavy with all this stuff, so I don't know how dub-influenced it's going to be. We'll see. I hope it's good. A.K.A. no dubstep.
hi i do covers and orginal songs help me out and get help me get more subscribers and my newest cover just cant get enough pass the 500 mark so i can release my other cover :D
I'm usually not one for rap, but this is amazing. Sure, we all love Light's sweet, dreamy melodies... But sometimes a taste of reality is healthy. I really love this song; it's inspiring. I can't wait for the new album! xx
Love this song and love Lights. <333 Being a musician myself, she's a huge inspiration, as well as my role model. ;w; Oh, and why is everyone hating on Shad? I thought his rap was a nice addition. :/
@NineTailedStarFox Because for long time Lights fans like myself the rap is kind of a shock. We've got this mental image of a sweetheart innocent girl with soothing sweet melodies. I have to admit I was a bit put off when I first heard this song, especially since I think she should lean more acoustically. But it really grows on you after a few listens and now I can't wait for the album. Getting impatient to have this on my playlist :)
I have respect for her experimenting and all, but I can't stand this song with the dubstep. It's so...random and non-catchy that I can't listen to it. I am a HUGE LIGHTS fan, but I am not too fond of this song. I'm sorry LIGHTS. I am really really hoping that this is just a one song thing. As you probably guessed, this song is a disappointment to me. I'm not sucking up and saying I like it. I am still anticipating her new album excitedly. I have faith in her!
One of her only flaws is her belief system. She would be close to perfection if she hadn't been indoctrinated and brainwashed as a child. Oh well, still makes fantastic music, it's a shame that she sometimes sings about the Christian god though. "Owe You One" and "In The Dark I See" are both songs about god.
I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this comment, but seeing that cross dangling from her neck like that, I had too.
@IamLav What's wrong with God, you atheist?? It's alright to talk about what we believe in, and she likes to show her belief in God. She wasn't "brainwashed." God gives us hope for a brighter day when we despair, and we can always look to Him.
@naviproductions Lol. I have nothing against theism (as irrational as it may be), but religion? It's 2011 -.- Come on now. Have you read the bible? Have you read the Qur'an? They're pretty much the same book, both preposterous.
@IamLav They're not the same. The Quran doesn't speak about the life of our Savior; though they do believe in Him, just not the same as Christians do. I have read the Bible, have you? One of my favorite quotes is in there, by St. Peter: "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life." So, you're not an atheist? I'm confuzzled.
@IamLav I'm an atheist too and I think you comment is a bit unwarranted- she (another other Christian artists like Owl City) hasn't said or done anything offensive to those without faith or of other faiths. For these artists it's often their belief which inspires them to write such amazing music- in this case the ends justify the means because if she wasn't Christian then there's a chance her music wouldn't be as good (which I couldn't bear :D)
Loving this song, yeah it sounds different, but the lyrics are honest and more beautiful than ever. It talks about the people who pretend to have their lives together, but in reality we ALL fall short of perfection. Nobody is better or worse.
The song would be stunning if not for the abysmal dubstep and rap. I have respect for both dubstep and rap, however, not when its 1) Bad and 2) In a Lights album. @GhostlingRise Actually the dubstep and rap was very classy. I mean, did you expect a huge dubstep drop? lol And the rap lyrics were meaningful. Truly there's no justification for you not liking them other than you just didn't want Lights to use them in her song which is, for lack of a better word, stupid.
@TopCityPrince It's just your opinion that the dubstep and rap is classy with meaningful lyrics just as its just my opinion that its all simply bad. I respect your opinion despite it being different from my own but I think you're an arrogant little fuck for saying that my opinion isn't justified simply because it disagrees with your own. Saying that someone's opinion is "wrong" simply because it disagrees with your own is the epitome of ignorance and arrogance. Go fuck yourself twat.
@GhostlingRise Mmm...one comment and you're ready to use profanity. Profanity is nothing more than the result of an ignorant mind trying to express itself. Nowhere did I say your opinion was wrong, I said it was there was no valid justification. You can feel however you want to about it, you just did not provide any good reasons for it, and thus I called your opinion stupid. Oh yeah, that's also my right lol.
@TopCityPrince Considering I would now need a set of crayons and a coloring book to communicate in a manner you could understand, I'm not going to waste my time. Despite your opinion of my opinion, many other people agree with me. Valid enough? In subjective cases such as these, the number of opinions matter and in this case it is quite a lot that find the dubstep and rap simply mediocre and out of place. So again, go fuck yourself and express your superiority to someone who gives a shit.
@TopCityPrince Oh and btw, using your logic, your opinion that the music is classy is also "stupid" and unjustified considering you failed to support that opinion with any reasoning lol. So I guess that just makes you a hypocrite who's upset that someone has a different opinion. Get a grip, this is the internet. Like hell every single youtuber is going to back their opinions with reasoning. Others have different opinions. Get the stick out of your ass and move on.
@GhostlingRise Actually I did. Maybe you need to go back and read my comment. Or maybe you have a problem with comprehension. Who knows. *Kanye shrug*
I have to say, it is nice to hear something new, not exactly the same thing. This is definently different than her other albums. Rapping however with Lights's style, doesn't go well. Otherwise, this song is pretty good. :)
I love this song. I'm glad that it sounds different from The Listening. It would get boring if she just made the same CD twice. All of the bands that try to make their new CDs sound exactly like their previous ones don't seem to stay relevant. I'm glad that she's progressing.
@reznoire I agree with galacticgoodies. You must have copied some of the lyrics wrong. You put: "We all pretend to keep our tongue out of our cheek Everyone's the fool they seek We all go off the track, and feel for our way back Everybody breaks a glass" Lights put: "We all forget to sleep and crash at someone's feet Everybody skips a beat We let the chances pass, the few we held so fast Everybody breaks a glass" Watch the video once more bud.
I love everything until 2:46-3:21 then Lights goes back and ends it great. I will love everything she puts out, but my friends think Im crazy that I listen to this amazing genre of music instead of the shit on the radio. Im a little upset that the shit I hate is in something as wonderfully perfect by Ms. Poxleitner, but hey, what can we do? She obviously had a reason, and I support her 100%. Just a wee bit upset :{
@Sumbac Dude I blast LIGHTS in my car all the time. I even put this on at the gym. If people knew who I was listening to, then they wouldn't be like, "what is this person listening to?!:"
Musicians are artists and they have the freedom to express themselves freely. People grow and change as they live their lives. so to expect a musician to create the same kind of music constantly is ridiculous. I doubt that every song on the album will have a rap section so if you really hate rap so much then you can skip this track.I believe Lights will always continue to impress me and I support her artistic decisions!
I honestly don't like this... I absolutely love Lights, I've been a fan for about a year now, but the Rap is trashy and nothing different. I still love her singing although its really dupstep. I really hope her album is better than this. I love her live, I loved My Boots which was different but this = no. I hate rap, it's so pathetic, all the people who like it must be into the trash everyone else was into I like Lights because she wasn't afraid to stand out.
@JackariousLights Actually, real and original rap is far from pathetic. It's used as a story telling device and is a HUGE tool in the effort to bridge the gaps between races/nationalities in America. Hip-hop nowadays? It takes a lot to be in hip-hop and to disrespect it and consider it "trash" and the people who listen to it to be "tasteless" is ignorant and immature. Just because YOU don't enjoy something doesn't make it trash. Just saying. I'm not a rap fan, by any means, but show some respect
@JackariousLights dude, Lights made the same kinda music Owl City did when he got popular. if you're trying to be a hipster who strays from the mainstream, you're doing it wrong
@JackariousLights you're thinking of mainstream rap. that's completely different to the style of rap in this song. to say all rap is trashy is stupid. you clearly haven't listened to those rappers who aren't as known as all the other rappers out there. they're style is completely different, and just like lights, they're not afraid of being different. lights hasn't changed, she's just thinking outside the box. that's what lights does. and if you're such a fan, you'd have known that.
I'm not hating on LIGHTS, quite frankly, I have no doubt her new album will blow her fans away. It's just, this was rather an unexpected move. It seems kind of Top 40-ish and generic to have a rap section, but it sort of works, even if I don't really like it.
I think this song grows on you. When i first heard it i was really suprised, in a bad way. Then i read the lyrics seperately and thought they had a really good message in them. So the second time i heard it i liked it more. Now i would say i really do like the song, mainly because of the words though.
So I don't love the rap part. It's still an amazing song, I love the beat, the change is awesome. She has an amazing voice and it shows. Sooooo looking forward to the album!
The rap wasn't as bad and as long as I thought it was going to be o.O It was actually good ^.^ and this song sounds really good and still seem meaningful =) I LOVE LIGHTS~~~ <3

Love the distortion. Girl is a genius.

The song's still got her unique voice but I only dislike how she has distorted it sort of and the rapping part 4/5

i honestly thought i wasn't going to like this song, but after immediately hearing it, i realized its impossible to dislike lights and her music.

I love everything until 2:46-3:21 then Lights goes back and ends it great. I will love everything she puts out, but my friends think Im crazy that I listen to this amazing genre of music instead of the shit on the radio. Im a little upset that the shit I hate is in something as wonderfully perfect by Ms. Poxleitner, but hey, what can we do? She obviously had a reason, and I support her 100%. Just a wee bit upset :{

i like the direction her music is evolving into, seems less girly which makes it easier to listen to in my car as a dude lol

JackariousLights 7 months ago

FEARMELIVE 7 months ago

It seems kind of Top 40-ish and generic to have a rap section, but it sort of works, even if I don't really like it.
jillsuze 7 months ago
I think this song grows on you. When i first heard it i was really suprised, in a bad way. Then i read the lyrics seperately and thought they had a really good message in them. So the second time i heard it i liked it more. Now i would say i really do like the song, mainly because of the words though.
FORGODSAKEIDONTKNOW 7 months ago
So I can just about tolerate the rap as it kind of works.
The rest is brilliant and shows fantastic progression form Lights.
Progression in music, progression in lyrics.
This is a sign of a good musician for you cynics.
Can't wait for the new record.

So I don't love the rap part. It's still an amazing song, I love the beat, the change is awesome. She has an amazing voice and it shows. Sooooo looking forward to the album!
