Holy crap, she's realy singing! Hey Briteney, Debbie is realy singing! Hey, Christina and all you other "singers" that say you can perform and that you sing at the same time... bull crap. Debbie is doing that here and you can here it. Now that was a genuine and perfect performance. The only young performer I can think of these days that actualy sings and not lip sync is Tayler Swift.
I have always really liked Arsenio Hall, and have always been one of his defenders... but he really seemed to "have it in" for Debbie in this interview... trying to make her seem silly and belittling her somewhat with his line of questioning... I can just feel that vibe with him here. He isn't open, jovial and enthusiastic, as he is with so many of his guests. There's something brewing underneath the surface with Arsenio here.....
@Tre404 He sleepwalks through the entire interview. It saps the energy from Debbie, and from the audience. Kind of embarrassing to watch the whole thing.
Gibson said it best!!!! Those critics DID NOT listen to the album! They just figured she was a goody goody who did not put a lot of hard work into her music...it is a shame because this album could have gone so much bigger had critics LISTENED to it and Atlantic helped her!!
To all who comment on her cliches, when you write as many number 1's for three album's as Debbie Gibson, you can make as many comments as you like, until then, keep them to yourself.
Where you writing albums when you were 16? I think she was writing what she felt and what appealed to 14 year olds, which is why it seems lame now that we are adults. But, if you made a number one album when you were 16 let me know. I wouuld love to hear it.
i so like the way u think because i tell people that when they pop off with comments like u commented on....i will often say until you sell over million albums then you can say something
I said I *LOVE* Debbie...but what I said was true. Her song titles are mostly based on cliches. Here are more...All from the Anything is Possible album
"Reverse Psychology"
"Stand Your Ground"
"One Step Ahead"
"Deep Down"
"Another Brick Falls"
"Negative Energy"
"Mood Swings"
I wasn't knocking her for it. Just pointing out the obvious. Her songs are cliches. Cliche sells. It just doesn't last.
this album went gold but didnt do as good as the first 2 album. This is the time during her parents divorce and when Atlantic Records was trying to change Deb into being my scandolus and sexual about her look.
debbie wrote the lyrics herself and wrote the music on a casio keyboard in her basement, when she was 16,ill give this woman all the credit in the world
Wow! I actually missed this performance because of the Gulf War, too, and remember being very irritated by that! Thanks for posting so many years later!
Do you have her when she did Electric Youth on Arsenio Hall? She had done Electric Youth on Arsenio Hall previous to this particular episode and I was wondering if you had it?
That is funny! That is the exact comment I was going to make (that it was not aired in some areas due to the war starting that night). The ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE album is brilliant, though I could do without REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY, STAND YOUR GROUND, and was SHOCKED that Deb sang those live during the OSA TOUR instead of LEAD THEM HOME MY DREAMS and DEEP DOWN which are SO MUCH BETTER!
I didn't get to see this when it was on because that was the night that the Gulf War started in 1991. She looks incredibly sexy in this performance. I know I can't be the only one that's had a 20 year crush on her.
She reminds me of Lady Gaga.

She tried too hard to 'be an adult".
There's nothing wrong with being clean and
having fun at age 20. I think she forgot that.

Love the choreography. My fav Debbie Gibson song. The only real issue with this video is that Deb missed the Janet Jackson reference. :P

I hated the 90's uptemp dance sound. So boring. 80's dance pop music was so much better than the 90's.

Arsenio is the worst interviewer ever, by the way. He once asked Anna Nicole if she ever faked an orgasm. Hard hitting journalist.

I love Debbie, but she was the queen of cliche'.
