I'm Canadian and have always been a soccer fan. Beckham's coming to America further fuels my passion even more. I found this <b>david beckham gets punkd' by rio ferdinand</b> video. It shows the guy is a complete package (except maybe his voice). He really is a down to earth person while living his life in a fish bowl. The vid is a bit long and the accent a little hard to understand but it gives you a rare glimpse of David's life. Just plug the title into the YT search box. Enjoy. I know i did.

yeah, but the reporter was asking legitimate questions in ENGLISH, even though he had an accent. its not like Beckham didn't understand what the reporter was saying. the questions were very clear to me. besides, he has to consider that he's in the States now and believe it or not, most fans of soccer are Spanish speakers.

I dont think this free kick is that much to make a fuzz about, sure he bends it but the keeper should totally have catched first of all it looks like he's got 10 players in the "wall" and then beckham shoots over the middle of the "walL" and a ball that goes over the wall is supposed to be the keepers ball, it's a bad placed keeper, and a bad placed wall.
But it's a goal so, it's a nice one too

Beckham had everybody fooled that he was aiming at the near post where the wall was supposed to protect. Just like in penalty kicks, a good free kick taker can have the goalie guess wrong. Beckham had done it a few times. He scored against Iker Casillas of Real Madrid back in the Man U days in a similar fashion.

You can always rely on him to try his up most to share the glory, setting up his fellow team mates with the ball to finish it off and making the audience roar when he kicks that ball into the back of the net.. .....Really? Perhaps you haven't heard of Juninho for free kicks. An as for team play, he's good but far from the best. I mean that pass to Donovan would have never connected if it was against any semi-decent european team, the defender was just ridiculous on that one. But I'm not hating, I hope Becks keeps it going and hopefully opens a few people's eyes to the beauty of the game here in the states.

certainly. i am in the southeast (where american football is religion) and we had friends over watching the spanish station and listening to english audio on the net. so if we're fans, you can beleive there are MANY MANY more. unfortunately all the sportswriters in this country are old geezers who just dont get it. trust me people <35 are fans of the game.
and until last couple years i was never a soccer fan...although did play as a child before quitting for high school football and lacrosse.

its so obvious that his intentions are totally based on soccer and not hollywood stardom or anything like tat that the media has mentioned, even Pele. And the media and certain portions of fans have been overcritical of his absence due to injury, as he said he cant do anything about it. So he answers all the critics the way he does best: on the field when it matters. He did it with Man Utd, England and Real Madrid. LA Galaxy has got themselves one of the best players in the world.
