is that black face. i hope you know thats beyond innapropriate wat the hell is wrong with you ppl. And then you uploaded this tone deaf video with black face like this even funny how wrong this is omg i hope you guys die from watching yourselves perform.
first of all, everyone here sucks crap. no talent. the clothes are mainly wrong. the black lady don't look really black. chocolate is not black, its brown. looks like you smeared poop all over your body. please leave your pajamas at home. don't wear them on stage. this is just plain bad. there is someone here not wearing pants. can't confirm it. i want my four minutes back.
OMG please this is just a damn shame....there wasnt one black kid in that school for the role...and then u figured its a girl so she would be able to hit the notes,,,but no, she just destroys the song.
this is not only terrible vocally and choreography wise.- but having tyrone being played by a girl in black face is DISGUSTING and OFFENSIVE. I am currently choreographing this and I have a white child playing it with the alternate lines.... rude rude rude
You guys directors always change gender parts. It's really easy. And dancing on the sidewalk couldn easily be sung by a girl. The problem is she didn't have a low enough voice, and the thing with Iris would be weird, but they could just be best friends.
Since the "Tyrone" in this clip is quite obviously a girl, the assumption must be made that lines were drastically changed to accomodate for the gender change. This means altering a copyrighted book, which is also quite illegal. I'm sure MTI would be very interested to know that. If you can't cast a show appropriately ans LEGALLY, DON'T DO THE SHOW - PICK ANOTHER!
Fourth, Tyrone is a MALE, and there is a very significant storyline about him falling in love with Iris and wanting to prove himself, not to mention there is a pas de deux written into the script and score for Tyrone and Iris.
This really is appalling. First, it is illegal to do blackface. The libretto for "Fame" has LEGAL alternate lines for Tyrone if casting a white guy is necessary, so using blackface is inexcusable. Second, this appears to be a school production, so how in the world did the school not get sued? Third, if the director was a teacher, did they get fired for allowing this to: 1) even be considered as an option, and 2) actually go so far as to be allowed onstage??
