Only if you want to give them a free product placement. Nothing prevents it unless you're libeling the company. If the idea is to say, "we're competing with you Toyota and we're more imaginative than you are," then it's okay. It's shot across the bow. Most companies do not name their competition because they don't actually want to give them free ad space in their spots. As if to say, "hmmm...if I'm considering a Chrysler, I'd better cross shop a Toyota...even Chrysler thinks so."

Oh, and just to beat a dead horse, consider that Hyundai does it with the Genesis on their dedicated website-- comparing their car to BMW and Mercedes. For them, this is a step up. They don't mind comparing because they are trying to say they are in the same league. In their most recent ad spots on the Genesis sedan, they even portrayed angry, fictional BMW and Mercedes CEOs yelling in German about the Hyundai "test" results. It was part of the shtick. They also race a Boxster on the website.

I'm sooooo sick of the jap junk being compared to American automobiles. If you're happy with the generic electronics and leather that feels like cardboard, not to mention the low quality metals that construct those pieces of crap, fine.....American automobiles are well built, there is really no comparison. Jap cars are not even a pimple on the ass of a domestic car, any day of the week.

Driving the 300 was a joke, could not believe a friend of mine got suckered in to buy one, complete junk. Avalon is not bland by the way, the interior and design is ages ahead of the retro crap 300.

I've driven both cars and have to say...Toyota Avalon sucks compared to the 300...its so bland and it performance is nothing when put up against a V8 hemi (especially with 6.1L displacement) ...300 is a "bang-for-your-buck" car (all mercedes inspired transmission and parts)....the Avalon is standard Toyota boredom that they are so effective at producing.
