Reading the HATERS comments about Elvis singing a cover is comical, EVERYONE sang covers, Ray did, Little Richard did, BB did, Chuck did, but it seems to these plebs that when a black man does it it's called a 'cover' when a white Elvis does it it's 'theft' wow bloody wee. And FUNNIER still is BB King, Chuck Berry and Co call Elvis the greatest, not Ray though, no, he was a jealous Junkie and absolute scumbag of a Man, nobody really liked Ray, esp the backup singers...
Interpreting songs is just as important as writing. Many folks write music and they can't perform it. Name me one great actor who writes their scripts, none of them do but the best, like DeNiro can deliver the goods - same with Elvis.
The elements of early blues and gospel are apparent in both Ray's version as well as Elvis', however, something about Elvis' performance loses the 'moan' of the african american spirit which was a prominent influence in all of Ray Charles' work. Elvis could sing the song, but he couldn't put the soul of years of struggle that Ray could.
Research? I think you might have to...Breaks they got...Money they didn't. The balance sheet was then (and still is outside of the music industry) completely in favor "Elvis'"
To: wtflez1, eat shit you retard, Elvis sang better than Ray Charles or Little Richard, your problems with Elvis is that he is white and you are black, stink and are jealous
"He'd tell people I was one of his influences. I doubt whether that's true, but I liked hearing Elvis give Memphis credit for his musical upbringing. I hold no grudges. After the show he made a point of posing for pictures with me, treatin me like royalty" BB King
@marshanahrai97 Who cares about Ray? A junkie lowlife who treated humans with utter contempt and was a blatant liar. Besides his treatment of women, Ray isn't a shoelace to Elvis, except for playing the Piano.. Ray was a turd and mundane..
@blueyisblue1 Ray is a classic! He may have been a horrible person, but he was a decent artist. I wasn't talking about Ray as a person, I was talking about his music, how the original song is better, than Presley's version.
@marshanahrai97 Fair Enough, opinions are neither right nor wrong, merely points of views...My ire stems from those who try to shootdown a 'Nice' and 'Sincere' human being who afforded the 'oppressed' the courtesy and humility ALL humanity needs. Elvis was a unique and godsend, he liberated Earth, musically speaking. And made the word 'Race' redundant in Music..But i respect your opinion and appreciate the sincerity in your response..
@blueyisblue1 Thanks. Let's just say that they were both big icons in music. Elvis changed rock and roll while Ray changed blues/jazz. They both have unique styles.
"I Got a Woman" (originally titled "I've Got a Woman")[1][2] is a song co-written and recorded by American R&B/soul musician Ray Charles and released as a single in December 1954 on the Atlantic label as Atlantic 45-1050 b/w "Come Back Baby." Both sides later appeared on his 1957 album Ray Charles (subsequently reissued as Hallelujah I Love Her So).

Elvis Presley com esse estilo explodiu o mundo, principalmente com a cortina de ferro, segundo historiadores russos a KGB não conseguiu controlar a entrada dos discos de Elvis pela cortina e aí começou o debacle da URSS.
@bignalgas1 Both awesome....as I believe "busted" is awesome by Ray AND Johnny Cash...If you have a chance, catch Johnny & Ray doing it together...good stuff! Take care.
Seriously...Elvis has NOTHING on Ray Charles...I know he was a great entertainer but you listen to Ray Charles do this and you hear how it was supposed to sound. And @AnnaK40 ...There is absolutely NO truth to Elvis being the blueprint to anything.
