Man, I watched this Solid Gold clip and it sure makes me miss those days...every song on the countdown was good!...can't say that about the crap music today. It was sure nice to be able to watch shows like this and listen to the radio then...nothing today compares...and those Solid Gold dancers...!!!
I suppose, everyone had their favorite Solid Gold dancer, mine was Paula Beyers. I was heartbroken when she replaced, after that first season or second season. I never thought that I would ever see her again, but thanks to you and your devoted channel, we all have.
The blow felt by Paula's departure was felt by everyone. The original 8 were an awesome group that started a television phenomena. But I learned through the grapevine that Paula's departure at the end of season 2 was HER choice (she left to get married or something). Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Helene and some of the others later on. I say "Good for Paula"!!
@THEHUNGRYVEGETARIAN I realize this is a really old post but yeah I know what you mean man. I felt exactly the same way about my favorite (Helene) not being on the show after season 2 as you did about Paula. Heartbroken! Once again, not fair Solid Gold. We shouldve had some kind of Solid Gold dancer withdrawal anonymous group back then(SGDWA). Hee hee! Will we ever see our teen dream girls again?.....Thanks to LB's video magic....yes! Thanks for the video pacifiers LB!......LOL!

Yes, that is Paula. I don't know if it is the tape quality or if they taped this at a different time than the other segments, but her hair does look much shorter and darker in the #6 countdown number.

The effect displaying the number 1 (6:45) was extremely reminiscent of Warner Brothers' movie opening from that era.

Yes, that is Paula Beyers with Alexander Cole. Both which were on Solid Gold '79 when Paula had long reddish hair.
