This tornado is considered the largest in size: 4 miles at its peak! A freak of nature, should certainly be considered as an EF-6, and perhaps the only one in decades ...
@MrJohnTravesso No, that tornado was not THAT big. Having said that, it was a massive tornado, but several other tornadoes have rivaled that one in size. Greensburg, Kansas, May 4 2007, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, April 27, 2011, Andover, Kansas, April 26, 1991.
you should have seen the moore oklahoma area they got hit harder than this area it looked like a taliban bombed the area this tornado should have been rated f6 why isnt there a f6 the weird part about this tornado was it started as two f4 tornadoes than combined to create the monster
@CROUELLETTE haha well, not there will never be an F-6. The scale was modified to appoint E.F.-5 as the highest rating with windspeeds 200mph or greater.
i dont know why the tornado scale doesn't go higher then an F-5 these days becasue that tornado in 1999 that hit Oklahoma City was bigger then and -F-5 with winds of over 300 mph
Back in 99 my hometown had golf ball sized hail it looked like it snowed in September. Damage everywhere. theri were twisters in nearby towns. A total of 2 or 3 weak ones but it was crazy
Those were the fastest winds ever recorded at 318 miles per hour!
