Coleman was one of the best wrestlers to ever try MMA. Despite a losing effort to Shogun in 2009, Coleman was still able to keep it a competitive fight & repeatedly took Shogun down at will. One of my favourite fantasy mathups would be Coleman of 1997 when he weighed 250 taking on Lesnar of today. I think that would make for an interesting fight. I have no doubt that Coleman in his prime would be able to take down Brock with a single leg or a double leg.
WOW, he has the the best double leg shot i ever seen in mma. Most guys just drop and grab the others legs. This guy actually SHOOTS for the takedown.
@skyfaLLen07 well he was supposed to at ufc 86 but got injured..heath herring stepped in..ugh i think the Coleman Fight with Lesnar would have been better
U gotta admit, wrestling is the best base to start of MMA. Coleman was a monster in his prime. It's no coincidence that Brock Lesnar is the HW Champion. NCAA Wrestling champ, plus I don't think anyone in MMA even comes close to his Superhuman strength.
In his early days, Coleman was the man! If you compare fighters from his age group, I'd easily rank him #2, 2nd to Randy Couture. Maybe Sakaraba would give him a good run. Today, he would destroy most fighters his age. Frye, Ruten, Severn, Shamrock, Pat Smith, Royce Gracie wouldn't stand a chance against him today. Sure Coleman was one dimentional in his wrestling. However, he had the strength advantage over most opponents. In the 205 div, he may be the strongest.
hey Disolove, I wouldn't be so quick to diss people who play other sports. There are some absolute beasts who play basketball and baseball. ANd if you think OSU wrestling is special, look up Brandon Highs wrestling program. Up until last year, they had not lost a meet in 34 years, which is the longest win streak in high school athletics for any sport.
Mark wrestled at THE Ohio State University. GO BUCKEYES!!
I was in high school at the time and attended wrestling camp at OSU. Mark was actually a really nice guy.
Wrestling is the only high school sport aside from football that's not for pansies! All of you basketball pussies who made fun of wrestlers as "rolling around with other men" should ask yourselves how many basketball pussies have won MMA championships.
look dude basketball fags are gonna be fags regaurdless, but how many Mixed Martial Artists have won an NBA championship? its fuckin the wrong thing to ask man, your a retard
ya look at his record moron, dont compare martial arts you dumbass, you say dont fuck with wrestlers but look at what happens when he fucked with noguiera, he got owned, BJJ on top again, but look at Fedor...he is the Sambo world champ, not even a fighting style done by anyone in UFC in colemans prime. the UFC has never had technical big men until recently. get your facts straight you nuthugger
Yeah but Fujita had him hurt and coleman had ihim in a rear naked choke Arlovski was just picking him apart and seemed like he was wanting to go the distance
@InnerIced Doubtful. If a fight between Coleman and Couture would have materialized back in the day I believe Mark would have taken it by TKO. However, even in his prime, Brock would have been to big and athletic for Coleman to handle.
lovin the headbutts at 3:43 brutal
