  • What you say makes a lot of sense. I think people often push away their feelings and emotions because of issues they have never dealt with relating to their past and present situations. This being said, its reasonable to assume that the process is much more difficult for some then others. I find that sometimes merely changing your thoughts can help immensely. The challenging part is to develop the ability to consistently do this when needed.

  • Actually, you would probably find that most people who really suffer from depression don't try to "push" their depression away. If anything, when depression comes on it becomes easier to wallow in self-pity and grief. Maybe if you're talking about some really light depression, playing children's games and imagining it as a worm might work for you. But for the majority of people who really suffer, they can't even get out of bed.
