It's a relief to hear somebody say the importance of proper english in black america. I remember catching hell everytime I spoke and being accused, even by white kids, of being non-black. A very aggravating experience. For the record I grew in a poor and underdeveloped neighborhood. My brothers and sisters and I were raised by strict discipline. Wow! No offense but you really haven't though this comment out. English Spanish and french are all very uniform languages spoken even before the mass African slave trades started. They also had an fully established alphabet to supplement those languages. There are/were literally HUNDREDS of African languages spoken across hundreds of different tribes with no written language or alphabet. such minority languages will never migrate very far and most often become dead languages.

I taught black children in a NYC school. I think kids drop out of school because:

1. The school forces standards that not all kids can meet, be they black or white.

2. College, college, college is all they talk about. Not all kids are academically suited for it. How about blue collar professions (electrician, plumber, chef, mechanic)? They're equally respectable. I suggested that, but it pissed off the principal. Most of our alumni flunk out of college. None became doctors or accountants.

One of the most brilliant people I know is a neighbor of mine who dropped out of college after a year and went on to be an artistic painter, a luthier, and a successful home repairman. 1st of all Malcolm X , to Khalid Muhammad to louis Farrakhan have said that African Americans have to get our communities right. They spoke of the importance of education and moral values. Yeah get your communities right. There has been wrongs done to blacks 200 years ago..it isnt there anymore. The victim mentality is more harmful then good. "We were victimized" im sorry if this sounds harsh, but get over it and make something of yourself. I myself came from a single parent fmaily, who struggled to survive, and now i have a degree, respectable job..and got it all through hard work.

No one can deny that blacks were abused in american history. However, there have never been a people that have not been abused or put into slavery by another people at some point in time. Furthermore, sitting around wanting other people to fix your problems is the proving the ole white masters right. Them darkies can't do anything on their own. But how is defending crack dealers and drug addicts helping the Black community? You know why the Asian community doesn't have a 50% high school drop out rate in NYC? Because they leave the drug dealers in the gutter and move on. Crack dealers are KILLING Black folk, it is spitting on the graves of their victims to "not turn your back" on them. They turned their back on the community when they started dealing.
