Gothic derived from punk? o.0 Gothic derived from...well, Gothic. 19th century fashionwear, which, by the way, the hat that you are referring to happened to be a common style at the time. There's a fairly thin line between the Gothic subculture and the poser subculture. Looking at the attendents of this concert and their way of dressing, I would have to compliment their efforts.

Gothic appeared in the post-punk, so yes, it pratically derived from many of the punk elements that were still alive in that post punk time, apart from other influences such as the Romantique ages, that were influenced at the same time by the Medieval times ;)
