I've started pineapples a couple times from the tops. You should let it dry a few days before planting it in soil.

Great video. I just watched one of rays videos about growing the tops where someone asked if they had seeds. Guess people think all pineapple plants come from tops

Very nice! I didn't even know they had seeds! LOL I have 3 growing and the water method really works! I pull off more bottom leaves now because they always go brown and it makes for a cleaner start. I have 3 growing, the 9 month old one is pretty big. I needed to do an update because people keep asking me about them. Can't wait to see how your seeds do!

@Incredibleisaac2 , you will have to have some main growth for it to live, I am not sure what you are exactly doing.. if it is just a stem probably not..

how should I leave it? Just leave it out on the counter to dry? Should I do anything special with it? Also, Once it heals, should I start it in water or plant directly into soil?

@Incredibleisaac2 , nope just let it heal over , probably a day or two it will be fine.. and place in soil, keep moist but not drenched until new roots appear it can take some time for this to happen.. give good lighting and don't let it get too dry..

Hi diane! I have a question that i totally off topic. I have a succulent growing at a weird angle. If I cut the stem in half and tear off the bottom leaves, will the bottom of that root?

All the pineapple tops I see in the stores look so awful I avoid buying them because I think they'd die before they grow. I never thought about just trying to plant the seeds. This could be a good option. Thanks for uploading!

I mean my aim is not to produce a pineapple as stated in the video.. but if it happens so be it.. just think on how they will do going in my greenhouse this year, I bet I can speed up the process, what do you think.. ? :) thinking outside the box don't make it sounds so not worth doing, cause I love experimenting, and I think others do too..

@dianemummvideos I look forward to update just in case you can get some before five years :) as for trying myself I'm going to wait for a move that allows for a larger garden and room for a green house on a small scale :) I wonder if having an apple near by during the growing stage will help speed things up. mind you I would not leave the apple for more then a day or two. that is something I would try down the road. ty for replying :)

sorry I had to laugh when you was trying to show us where to find the seeds and it seemed like you picked them out already, good use for the left over peel, a good idea if you do this again cut the fruit up in a bowl then you don't have juice all over the place. :) thanks for sharing. I am growing my very first pineapple after seeing Praxus video.

and now I want to try to grow some seeds. Obviously I need to go get another pineapple LOL

You know I only thought of trying to plant the top of the pineapple never thought about looking for the seeds!! Great information. I love fresh pineapple I dont think it would have made it to the end of the video lol
