I think that was a two count. The match should'nt have ended there at thaat moment. but you knew how it was back then.........THEY HAD TO BLOW UP HOGAN!!
Thanks for uploading this. We were at this show. It was blast. I'll never forget after Rick Rude called the crowd a bunch of "Detroit Dirtballs" some moron jumped the rails and went after him. Good times.
This fast count came from the boxing match between Tyson and Douglas when Tyson had knocked Douglas down in the 8th or 9th round and Tyson noticed that the referee counted very slow (WWF changed it to a fast count on the Main Event to add more drama)...It took the ref 14 seconds to count to 9...So Tyson was saying that he was robbed because he should have won when he knocked Douglas down...
This match is hilarious...I would watch this over and over with my cousins...We would rewind it and just spend hours laughing and laughing at everything we noticed. Everything here is funny: Vince McMahon's voice, Jesse Ventura's comments, Hogan & Macho's fight, Sherri getting clobbered and ejected, and Douglas taking over with the "fast count" on Macho to add more to the drama.
Hogan always beat Savage too many times in his WWF and WCW career. Dream matches for Macho Man would been : The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Christian, and Kofi Kingston.
@21richkid Maybe by 1999 Hogan's constant beating of Macho started to become farcical, but in 1989 and 1990 it made total sense. In 1989 to blow off their big feud; having a shit heel Macho beat Hogan at WM5 makes no sense. And here in 1990, it was a warm up match prior to WM6; what would you expect, Savage to take the title here??? I don't think they wrestled at all in WWF after this.
@peterp21 what you don't know is that Hogan was beating Savage in house shows in the exact same match all through the time following WM5. Every match was the exact same - that was Savage's style and professionalism. Every match they did in every city (non-televised) had this same BS about Savage hitting him with the elbow and Hogan no-selling it and doing the Hulking out. It went so far with it - they used it in WCW as partners, Savage hit Hogan with the elbow to "help" him back up.
Now someone asked would i remember this over Austin vs Shawn. I think anyone from in the 80's to early 90's remembered ALL hogan matches. Most Austin matches are usually sketched in the memory of some peoples minds. Hogan >>>>>> Austin.
savage beat the piss out of road warrior hawk at a kid rock concert! Than macho's girlfriend and her friend shit kicked hawks old lady, now that's awesome.
thanks for loading this, Hogan was my favorite but I forgot how entertaining the Macho Man was it's been so long. I also loved how Ventura always rooted for the heel in every match, such good times.
Did anybody see Buster Douglas at the Strikeforce in Columbus last weekend? He so fat he look like the black stay puft marshmallow man. i was shocked i thought he had passed away.
JUST LISTENING TO MCMAHON AND VENTURA DOING PLAY BY PLAY TALKS ON WRESTLING MATCHES REALLY MAKES ME WISH THESE DAYS WERE STILL THE SAME TODAY...TOO BAD IT'S NOT...NOW WE'RE FLOODED WITH "VINTAGE" BULLSHIT ALL THE TIME...
I remember this, and boy did this eventually pay off for Vince in the future. Originally, it was supposed to be Tyson being the ref, but he was replaced after he lost to Douglas. Because he didn't use him there, Vince was able to use Tyson during The Attitude Era for the title match at "Wrestlemainia XIV." Now, you tell me which match is more remembered to this day. Savage vs. Hogan on a return match on NBC, or Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Shawn Micheals at one of the CLASSIC Wrestlemainias.
Check out the big grease spot in the center of the ring at around 1:00! I assume that was from all of that oilly crap Hogan put on his body before this match.
I KNOW, right? I had it on a VHS and just knew others would want to see it, so I put it up for everyone to enjoy. Loved this one as a kid, mustve played that VHS a hundred times.
yeah, I've got it. I uploaded the whole MainEvent. Look for it in my vids. There is also one called Dino Bravo humps Ultimate Warrior. Its something funny I made from that match. ENJOY!
@jvlivs2 I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME THING, LOL!!! I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS WHEN IT FIRST CAME ON TV BACK IN JANUARY 1990 AT MY GRANDMA'S HOUSE WHEN I WAS IN SECOND GRADE!!! FEELS GOOD TO KNOW TRUE WRESTLING FANS!!!
"I can't believe Hogan kicked out of that elbow! Despite seeing Hogan do it at Wrestlemania V! And in London! And at various house shows! I have a ten second memory McMahon!"
@valiantbros Oh, and what did "Fluster" Douglas do after that? Zero! Got flattened in 3 by a 208lb Holyfield. Disappeared for 5 years, came back and struggled against 6 rotten tomato cans before getting thrashed by Lou Sav in 1 round. Yeah, a real A class fighter there buddy; a real legend! Douglas was nothing before or after Tyson. Tyson made him famous momentarily and now he's forgotten. Douglas lost to Ferguson and Tucker both of whom Tyson dominated. Buster himself knows he was a fluke!
@valiantbros Dude I have more important things to do rather than argue with an imbecile such as yourself. Don't message me anymore. "Busted Up Douglas" knew he was a 1 night Cinderella man and refused to give Tyson a rematch. Don King offered that farce $28 million dollars to fight Tyson in an immediate rematch in Vegas. Douglas refused and chose to fight Holy, who he thought was no threat to his title. Your HERO Buster came in 15lbs heavier with man tits and got KO'd by a cuiserweight!
@renegado454 No one is denying that Buster Douglas was a one night wonder. That's the whole allure of the entire story, that on one night, a journeyman fighter like Buster Douglas drew strength from his mother's death and beat the world's greatest fighter. Now, get your lips off of rapist Mike Tyson's dick and shut the fuck up, faggot bitch.
@rightwingnutcake Why are u poking your cock nose in my fuck'n conversation you fuck'n maricon? I would love to hear you talk this shit to my face you fucking pussy! So, with that being said, why don't don't give me your address, and I will be more than happy to show up at your doorstep and hear you talk this shit to my face! I have the resources and I promise, you have no idea what ur up against. So, unless you're giving me your address, don't fuck around with me, and don't fucking message me!
The exact same thing happens with HBK and Mike Tyson 8 years later.
