Okay lets get full on here. We can see Iran's newspapers and we can blog in it. Are we to worry that a US citizen blogging in Iran has to worry that I will be followed by the US government or a threat that I will be arrested? It has to be two way and we should be able to blog in Iran to help them make change without the worry that we will be in front of an ICC or worse a biased Federal judge. So I join you and want to blog in Iran so we may get social justice where it is direly needed.
I just want to say I totally agree with their statement not helping governments of other countries with censoring/filter-software or any of that kind.
Other than that, I'm really embarrassed by the really bad English pronunciation of our Dutch minister.
It is not that the lack of freedom of expression that endangers Democracy but that Democracy endangers the freedom of expression of the individual and minorities and the less affluent due to a lack of the infrastructure.
The Internet at the moment along with the English language is a weapon that is being used by some western countries to manipulate and repress the rest of the world to their advantage.
its kinda ironic that Hillary Clinton is speaking about online freedom when it is her govt. that's trying to make or has all ready succeed in making a kill switch for the internet in the united States.. Now.. what is the purpose of such a switch ? and one more thing how can Hillary speak about freedom of speech and god giving rights when it is her govt. abusing the OWS people on a daily basis ? Comment as you see Fit.
@biggernworse300 the kill switch doesn't really bother me. It would only be used in a last resort type situation in which there is a super virus spreading among computers. I don't think it would ever be used. SOPA which was just enacted, however, gives the gov. the power to take down any website that displays any copyrighted material. This includes sites like youtube and reddit, which is where freedom of speech are the greatest.

Those of us who are involved in the Occupy Movement and have experienced repression in the United States hear Hillary with mixed understanding.
