Gee, Shaun, never mind the dry bag; the "one thing you need" is a PFD (personal flotation device)! They say you can drown in a teaspoon of water, never mind six inches. Drowning could ruin your whole day.
dude im from lousiana and i dont appreciate you making us coonasses look back. for one a pirouge is about 12 to 14 foot long and is made from fiberglass. two put a motor in it like mine and you wont need that 8 foot kayak paddle. 3 try not to be like a coonass cause you cant amount to me and if you want to see what my boat looks like i will be glad to post a video of it and it goes about 25 mph. good day.
@redneckroser -- you are completely wrong my friend! Originally speaking- 1, a pirogue is 14'-18' 2, is not made from fiberglass; due to the fact that fiberglass was not around in the 1600-1800's. 3, since when did motors belong to a pirogue; due to another fact that the reason the French Cajuns and Indians designed the Pirogue to manuver in inches-shallow water, such as the swamps. 4, who the hell wants to go 25mph in a pirogue? Kinda defeats the purpose. Agree? Cheers from New Orleans
@jeremiah20092009 thanks rebutting the kid. the video was off the cuff and totally unscripted. I was trying to say more than two words unlike almost every pirogue video on youtube. I think in this century there is lots of license to add whatever modern convenience to the boat. I cant do dugout btw! Even though he was rude, I do like the idea of possibly adding a motor but, I do like going into very shallow water such as the tunnel scene in this video. He probably didn't watch that part lol!
@redneckroser Hahaha Dude....you're as wrong as a football bat. How old are you...nine? Just where did you get the idea that all pirouges are made from fiberglass and....and...are motor powered? Where did you say that you're from cause you sure ain't from the bayou with all that bullshit. Choot em!!!
@redneckroser Dude, I'm from Louisiana too and every pirogue I've built was very similar to this one. The only fiberglass ones I've seen were all commercially built.
With no interruptions, I could build one of these in a day for less than $100. They really are very easy to build and are amazing on the water.
thanks for the comment i have around 200 or so man hours in the boat its its all dont with apoxt from rocka apoxy if fort pierce fla . they have the best apoxy thats who uncle john recomended

Looks just like my perogue. I love to paddle mine in swampy waters.
