Enfield is great at hitting the nail on its head. How many middle-class families in Britain (during the nineties, especially) went through similar situations when little jimmy comes out?
It's well observed...The father is not really nasty but clearly having a huge conflict between what he wants to say [basically that he respects his son] and what he has been conditioned by his 1950's upbringing to say and think. Freudian slips galore!
Harry has said that he based this on when hw was younger and his dad meet one of his girlfriends, and his dad was akward because he was not sure if they where having sex.
@OrangeJuiceAndCake1 Don't know much about psychology do you ? ; "my temper ? haha you, wish" followed with the angry insult being the obvious giveaway of you being the defensive opposite of what you say. Your reply REALLY says 'Grrrr, I'm steaming angry", Lol
You know those moments when you're watching something alone and you flinch in embarrassment for the fictional character's stupidity? Yeah. That happened.
As a gay guy who hasn't had a boyfriend yet, I hope my parents are more tactful the first time I bring a boyfriend home. If not, I guess the two of us will just slip away and laugh about the crazy things my parents said, though. :)
The skit of this where his son gets a new car is great... I´m not gay and I found these things hilarious when I was younger... and now for example when I see them I chuckle away...
Lol this video is pretty funny. I recently read the book 'Surviving a Breakup: Getting Back Your Ex Back For Good" by Matthew Mehra. I found it on Amazon. The book helped me rekindle my relationship with my former lover. I would suggest it to anyone wanting to reconnect with an ex boyfriend or girlfriend. That and the price is very low.
This is a brilliant piece of work and I can't imagine what must've been going through the minds of the people who clicked 'dislike'. If they're mostly gay people and found this offensive, I'm gay and I find this hilarious! It's only offensive, I guess, if you can't see the point they're making and the point is when you're openly gay, the older generation can be embarrassed, awkward and inappropriate! They're not trying to be homophobic, they're just not used to it like we are! Bless 'em! :D
StathaRob try to get down off of your ivory tower and get a grip of reality. Retch as much as you like but that's a pretty accurate portrayal of the last generation's take on same sex relationships in this day and age. See it from their point of view - to them you're still a bunch of shirtlifting, pillow-biting poofters. It takes time for attitudes to change.
Thankfully my Dad is a way cooler with his son being gay than this but I could so imagine these conversations taking place. Love the writing and acting - superb
Ha, ha, ha....this reminded me of when my mother in law had to meet her daughters girlfriend for the first time. The more she drank to calm her nerves, the more she kept putting her foot in it. Luckily for them, they didn't hear it!!!!!
@yero69 hetero's are ignorant? i'm sorry, i didn't realise your sexual preference pre-determined your ignorance levels... i'll think you'll find that the older generations and homosexuality is extremely taboo.. it wasn't considered normal or 'manly'.. but of course, we now live in enlightened times.. i am straight and perfectly fine with homosexuals.. hell they even tell me what to wear to pull women lol
@revilo314 What does 'politically correct' mean & who controls this totalitarian disease that has plagued the western world ever since marxist/feminists invented it in the 60's? Do you think that if you say something is correct then eveyone should pander to your viewpoint? That's almost the very definition of fascism. Think you can intimidate others with your self-righteousness? Not me. I'm not homophobic but you sound like you may be a a heterophobe. Get down of your high horse!
