Great advice, very funny. You should look in to barefoot running. There is no knee pain barefoot running. Same principle as lifting barefoot. I definitely agree obese people should not run.
Running will not "just burn tissue". The fuel source depends on running intensity. Kettlebells and CrossFit type workouts are all good, no need to bash running to try to look good. Go forward on your own merits. Besides you need to know what you are talking about. I agree that running is not the best way for morbidly obese folks, I would suggest real long hikes (a few hours) as an option. The diet will of course play the biggest factor with beating obesity.
I agree that traditional running is going to beat you up. It's due in large part to the shoes that most people wear. The true conspiracy is you need a shoe to run faster. Ever since I started going minimal on my shoe wear (I'm wearing Vibram Five Fingers all the time now), I've felt better about running, and actually want to run. With that said, I also want to swing my 35 lb kettlebell all the time!!!
I see where you're coming from. We do mention visiting professionals in other videos but we should have prefaced this one as well. That was just a glimpse of what is possible and what our own bootcamp clients can do.
Besides, we even had a "doctor" to make sure we covered all bases!
Cool - I really enjoy your videos btw. I just found kettlebells and after 12 weeks I am 3 kg lighter, stronger, fitter etc. But if you do not do it properly, you can easily injure yourself.
Running is just cardio, and getting the heart rate up is a part of fitness. I tell people to determine where their passions are, then go for it. For me it's walking, tennis, jogging, dancing, swimming and hiking.
When I boxed, running was a must. At age 45, my knees just couldn't stand the pounding, so, it's out. The primary factor for success is just the doing of the exercise, and staying motivating doing what's fun makes all the difference in the world.
Nice production Marcus, hehe, I got some chuckles out of that. I agree with the premise as well. Now you just have to shatter the myth that women shouldn't lift weights because they will get hiyooooge instantly
Brilliant. I love running but my body hates it. Sore knees, sore ankles, sore hips, etc. So I have to find other ways to workout, which is why I subscribe to Mbody Strength.
They make them run marathons because it is a show. Its only purpose to entertain the viewer. If there were no ramifications for training these people to death they probably would do it if it guaranteed high viewing figures
the only time any body should ever run is when the fucking police are chasing you have you noticed there is atot of 250lb joggers lateiy with there bottles of water smashing the pavement up yea am in training man .
i likadiss. i like swimming to supplement running as well! im gonna watch biggest loser cuz i cant believe they are making morbidly obese people run marathons, its almost comedic.
great video guys!!! I totally agree that shows like the Biggest Loser give people trying to lose weight the wrong idea of how to do it safely and efficiently.
I think you need to distinguish between running and jogging.

You criticise the tv programme for giving unfit people wrong exercises, then you suggest a bunch of stuff that will injure an untrained person.
Your basic message is great, but tell people to go see a qualified trainer and get the basics squared away before trying what you suggest.

Besides bodyweight training my cardio consists of using a punching bag, jump rope and a bicycle.

I push my truck in an empty parking lot for my cardio workout. People think I'm stupid but they're the ones that's stupid!
