Maybe the reason he left after that is because it doesnt really matter to him because he has nothing to prove to you or anyone. And it seems that its bothering you more than its bothering him. Let it go, if hes ok with it why are you gonna question the man hes a legend just like his brothers.
Well if you got nothing to prove why do it in the first place?....Royler is great, probably technically the best of all time, he's my all time favorite, I just wanted him to leave without the eddie stigma. I'm a fighter and fighters just don't take a butt whoppin and then disappear especially when I still got a lot left in me. The Gracie's made their rep on taking on all commers. Royler owes no one anything he was the best for a long time. I just didn't like that he disappeared after the loss!
This will be my last comment here. I'm not crazy it's just that Royler was one my first great influence in BJJ. I was brought in by Royce(UFC) Teased by Rickson (Pride) but I actually trained with Royler on 3 different events when he came to Louie Vintanloro's School in Jersey, I was a student at the time. I then trained with him when I became a student of David Adviv! His style is amazing to me(Royler) I just think he should have been more "Gracie" about a rematch with Eddie. "The Gracie Way"
Public competition shouldn't be about proving something to someone. It should be a way to demonstrate your abilities, test yourself, and learn. Perhaps Royler concluded he had more to gain as a person and a fighter by moving towards MMA. I'm not a close associate of his, so I don't know his reasons. But if there's anyone who has something left to "prove" in BJJ, it is certainly not Royler Gracie.
Competition is always about proving something. That's why it's competition. To Compete!....you want to demonstrate your skill do exhibitions! The Gracie's made their rep from telling folks their technique was better and that they could prove it in physical competition and not in a exhibition! Royler owes no one anything but his fans, and I'm one of his fans. I've rolled with him on four different occassions. His technique is incredible. Fans want their hero's to always prevail. Royler is Great
I would say that public competition is rather the highest form of demonstration; demonstrating your ability against a competing opponent.
What you say about the Gracie's and about Royler is true. But keep in mind that this is their family art, they've been doing this their whole lives and they live by it. So we shouldn't expect them to think the same way we do or make the same decisions we would because they are not us. If you're really a fan, respect his decisions.
Why should Eddie get the credit for ending this man's career..."Soca" hell don't give me "Soca" Royler has owned the rights to the name "Soca" since they met. Here are the top guys: Leo, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, Roger Gracie, Marcelo Garcia, Fernando "Terere" Augusto, Xande, Braulio Estima, Vitor "Shaolin" just to name a few and Eddie hasn't fought any of these guys except for Leo and Leo destroyed him! Technique wise you can't beat these guys. Eddie took the win over Royler and ran with it!
Bottom line Eddie's not in Royler atmosphere however Royler played into Eddie's hands that night. Royler stayed in the guard, for what! He didn't pass and he didn't try to pass like he normally would. Eddie was exhausted and because his "RubberGuard" wasn't working he pulled a simple tuck the arm in triangle and it worked....On Royler! but if your tired then you can make mistakes and Royler did but he just can't leave his game with that mistake! Talk to him please!
Royler did not disappear from the scene, after that match Royler came back to fight the 3rd place match and won over Alexandre "Soca". Royler then changed gears and started concentrating on MMA, fighting 4 matches against top opponents including Kid Yamamoto since.
Anyways thanks for checking out my videos and keep training
I know he fought Soca afterwards!..Royler is not MMA he's BJJ and he got beat at BJJ. I know about the other fights in MMA. What I'm saying is that Royler will go down in Jiu-Jitsu as one of the greatest technical players and teachers of all time! but he disappeared from the gi and no gi game after that event! There's no way after losing to Eddie that you disappear from the Gi and no Gi game. I know it's his choice but would you leave the game after a loss, correct your mistakes Royler!
Kid what's going on with Royler? Eddie beat him in Abu Dhabi and Royler disappeared from the scene mean while Eddie is making his rep off the Royler win. Nobody is looking at the fact that Leo destroyed him by not sitting in his guard, Leo demostrated that the Rubber Guard is only effective if you sit in it, Eddie didn't even submit Royler using the Rubber guard he just moved Roylers arm out and under. Royler should not have just disappeared after a loss! Royler is an Icon. Why just disappear?

If anyone left it was Eddie, where has he been after beating Royler? He disappeared and disappeared with FAR less of a reputation than Royler.
