@SweetVintageLove: I completely agree. The Sam thing felt to me like an attempt to redeem Jim's character after David Conrad had been thought to be leaving the show and then did not. Basically meaning it felt like something they threw together and then were forced to play out. Not to mention it was just horribly sad, I mean seriously they had to kill Jim RIGHT after they show them trying for a baby. This is a sign to me that there was some desperation behind Jim's death.

Jims' ghost goes into the body of Sam; who was killed in a car crash. Jim sees an opportunity to take the place of Sams' ghost when he vacates his (Sam) body. However, Jims' ghost doesn't remember his former life until "leap of faith" episode. Watch the entire season & be prepared for frustration & sadness b/c the writers try re-writing the wrong of killing Jim.

Additionally, the surprise of seeing the 1st connections of Mel & Jim was nice, b/c it was similar to a pre-wedding.

I cried so hard when Jim died earlier in the season, even though I knew what was going to happen, you would have thought I'd lost my own husband. And, amazingly, though I knew this would happen too, I think I cried even harder during this moment. The *best* Ghost Whisperer moment ever. Definitely. :)

In real life, that minute worth of flashbacks would have taken place in a fraction of a second - i think it's adrenaline that does that, making your mind process things very fast to the point that just a second can feel like a lifetime when recalled upon. His life was flashing before his eyes the way his spirit knew it to be, in other words.

Okay. To everyone who missed it: Jim dies, his spirit goes into someone else's body and doesn't remember anything - not even Melinda. So when jim's spirit went into sam's body, we still saw sam. but it was rlly JIM inside of him. next, jim is swimming to save melinda, he randomly remembers stuff - even Melinda! yay! lol. but sadly, he is still inside sam's body. So, in conclusion, we - as the audience - are seeing jim but everyone else sees sam (except melinda, delia and ned)

The episode where jim dies and then like comes back as another guy sam or whatever is called heart and soul. Also in season 4. I know this because i own season 1-4.
