This brings back memories.Saturday night was the only night I could stay up late due to school during the week.Nothing on at 11:30 except Bob.Great Memories !!
Bob used to get my aunt (Morganna Roberts, from the Brass Mule) on his show late at night to entertain the "folks at home". But I was told that she entertained Bob and his crew "better" while the movies were running. Bob used to take her home to Delhi about noon the next day. She said he was always afraid of getting a DUI, so they always left late, or so he told his wife.
I remember seeing him once on a Friday Night at the McDonald's Restaurant on Glenway Ave. across from the old Shillito's store. He was drunk as a monkey and he was having a rough time trying to get into a white Volkswagen Beetle and someone was yelling his his name out real loud and said he was trying to get into a Little King. Bob turned around and gave everyone one of those "go to hell" waves, then he got into his car and sped away.
Something big is about to happen to you! He's just spittin' out words to see where they land! Ohhh my goo-ness!

One has to wonder, was Johnny Carson's Art Fern character influenced by Bob Shreve?

Cincinnati is the best. They had the BEST TV hosts and the BEST local programing.
TV now a days is pretty much #@$@. Bob had the old school charm and humor without being overly crude and rude like most TV show hosts now.
I think Cincinnati lost something great when the Past Time Playhouse was cancleded.
We all remember staying up all late Sat night into Sunday morning watching Bob's antics.
I have a PPP Halloween and 4th of July special in WMV format if anyone is interested?
