I read that Elvis liked the song Blue Suede Shoes, but decided to let Carl make a hit out of it first before he sang it himself. Carl had better success on the charts than Elvis did. Carl was more popular than Elvis when they began to tour together. something that Carl had difficulty to understand because he felt that Elvis was better looking.

@CSTANCHIK And Carl no doubt got decent royalty money from Elvis' single. just an aside, I heard him say in an interview he didn't like the intro count on Elvis' cover, and that his favorite cover was the 1969 John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band one. But that was an interview for his last album, right before he died, and he was kissing up to Paul McCartney to help him plug it, so who knows? It's a business. It's good Carl was around when he was.
