  • OK John, well please hand on my kind regards to Rick, I've been talking with him today on matters of copying and pasting Word text into comment boxes on things like eBay, tell him it looks like eBay turns my comma’s and slashes into question marks but otherwise all other characters looks ok. As for batteries, I like battery radios but I rely don't like battery powered bench test equipment, I want to be able to pick up a signal generator that’s not been used for a year and to be able use it. • Hi John

I just wanted to join in your appreciation of Rick’s videos. I've been involved with electronics and Radio Frequency circuits since I was in short trousers and I've been fortunate enough to have worked with and taught by some really clever guys in the electronics industry but wouldn’t it be nice to have had someone like Rick to teach you. There can be no substitute for experience but isn't good that he can share his experience in such a nice way.

    Kind Regards ...Andy

  • @AndyDaviesByTheSea,

    Andy,

Hello there. Good to hear from you. And am also glad you watched the vid. I appreciate it.

Rick's a good guy, but he likes battery operated and portable radios. Big character flaw there. :=) I've tried bringing him around to the correct way of thinking, but it's simply hopeless. Even so, I plan to call him tonight and give it another go. Wish me luck.

Thanks for stopping by. Drop in again sometime.

    Regards,

    John

  • Rick is the bomb. The Digital Fun Meter is indeed a work of art. I wish I'd made this video-- he's taught me an awful lot about how the front end stages of radios work! And, of course, he's taught us all to constantly watch our own Digital Fun Meters.

Thanks for making this... it needed to be made!

  • Hello again, Mario. As always, it's very good to hear from you. Thank you for the comment. It's appreciated.

Stay dry...don't drown. I want you to continue viewing my vids.

    Regards,

    John

  • Rick's a great guy. He helped me with the RCA 262

  • John, making the complimentary video about Rick was a very nice - and professional - thing to do. I agree with you on all points! I also note that you recommended his book in your first video two years ago. Based on that, it was the first book about restorations I bought. Thanks to you and Rick for setting me on the right path!

  • Thanks for the visit. It's greatly appreciated.

I had planned to do this video much sooner, but it never seemed to get done. I'm glad it finally happened. Rick certainly deserves it.

    Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    John

  • John, thanks for this "toast", to Rick! I stand in awe of what AllAmericanFiveRadio does and how well he does it! Truly, he is a master teacher from whom many YouTubers and others have learn much!!

Also, thanks to you for your "corner of the deck" conversations. You've become the friendly neighbor with stories to tell to many of those same YouTubers!

    Cheers to both of you!!

  • Thanks, Roy.

From conversations with Rick, I know that he greatly enjoys educating via Youtube, especially educating the young, which is as it should be. In addition to Rick there many ohers actively passing down loads of info concerning our vintage radio hobby. Rick is among the very best of them.

As always, thanks for popping in. Take care, my friend.

    Regards,

    John

  • John, your kudos to Rick McWhorter are shared by many and me. My elmer was a retired radio & tv repairman that always welcomed me in and whatever the catch of the week was. I learned a lot and he never charged me for repairs and started teaching me. He was glad to see a younger fella come in with an interest. I still have about 10 radios and ran across Rick..have watched his videos over and over. Things a tight but that book is on my list. Thanks again for the video and thanks to Rick.

    Hello there.

In terms of vintage radio repair, Rick is a absolute polished diamond. I often wonder how many vintage radios I'd have managed to repair without his expert Youtube guidance. He's been a tremendous help to me...and many, many others as well.

    Thanks for dropping in.

    Regards,

    John

  • Thanks very much John,

I have been talking to my publisher and he asked me about my second book. I sent him the link so he can take a look at it. I hope he does publish it, I think most people would like it in book form.

    Thanks Daniel and Miguel,

    Best regards you-all,

    Rick

  • I agree with coolbluelight, Rick is a great guy and know is stuff. Not only he's takes the time to watch the videos of his subs, he's even willing to make a video to help someone out who's struggling with a repair job. I would like to meet him in person someday.

  • Rick is a great guy, he really knows his stuff! and he even takes the time to watch the videos of his subscribers! Kudos indeed! :D
