Creo que todos que odian la película 'El cantante', la odian porque está hecha por Marc Anthony y Jennifer Lopez. Si olvidan de esto y concentrarse en lo que es mejor para la memoria de Héctor Lavoe, tal vez entienden que la película 'El cantante' se hace con la idea de difundir la música de Héctor en un público mucho más amplio. Man, the life of Lavoe was so full of anecdotes and parallel developments that making a film of it is a real challenge. Perhaps they should make a TV series (like a soap opera) about his life. That would be more suitable. And it could include the other stories that surrounded his life (Rubén, Celia, Willy, Johnny, Ismael, etc.). That would be awesome.

Raul Carbonell does an amazing job in this movie. I remember watching him on TV when I lived in PR and he was also the lead singer for Rubby Haddock. He's come a long way.

I saw Rual Carbonnel in NYC when he did the play "QUIEN MATO HECTOR LAVOE" back in 1999. In person he has an incredidible voice and he sounds just like Hector Lavoe. This movie is so accurate than the fake Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthoney movie. I would love to see the whole complete movie.
So many people fail to understand that the movie "El Cantante" grasped Hector's life from PUCHY'S point of view, how SHE viewed him, how SHE experienced him, how SHE lived him. As far as I'm concerned, the film was brilliant in terms of PUCHY'S point of view of Hector Lavoe. It was NEVER meant to be a full blown portrayal of his life, rather just what Puchy shared with him. So many people fail to understand that the movie "El Cantante" grasped Hector's life from PUCHY'S point of view, how SHE viewed him, how SHE experienced him, how SHE lived him. As far as I'm concerned, the film was brilliant in terms of PUCHY'S point of view of Hector Lavoe. It was NEVER meant to be a full blown portrayal of his life, rather just what Puchy shared with him. Please people enough with the bashing.

Just like no one will "care" or "give a shit" about this upcoming predecessor for the Lavoe chronicles. And as for j.Lo not being in the "status she was 5 years ago", tell me HOW in any way does this relate to the "El Cantante" film? Because as far as I can see there's no actual correlation to your statement.

Trust me, most people don't have a clue about this movie, and I live in the East Coast, a huge metropolis for not only Puerto Ricans but many other hispanic groups as well. Most people haven't even heard of this remake of Lavoe, even in NYC, so there you go.

I find it hilarious that some people really believe that marc anthony was trying to put hector down any any way. he was offered the part did it to the best of his acting ability and some morans that can't tell fact from fiction act like he wrote it and acted it and fully believed it. Those people that fell like ellos le sirvieron a hector de matre should really get over yourself. Cause to me the only ones that new the ultimate truth are all dead!!!! Get it......DEAD!!!

Espere un momento. Marc Anthony tiene tremendo talento, PERO... El tambien le jala a las drogas. Y drogas con seriedad. Lo que pasa es que la pendeja de la JLO puso sus manos en este proyecto y lo arrinuo. La gente puede decir lo que quieran de que Marc es el que no tiene talento y el esta bajando la fama de Jlo cuando en verdad esa tonta no pudo durar mas de cinco años porque ella no tiene talento.

its looks like an accurate account of his life, but marc anthony almost looks like hector!
El Cantante had Fania along with Willie colon's band play for the movie, thats why the movie felt special. and it radiated that salsa energy
