@mikes230 She died 11-10-2008 in Castel Volturno, Italy in a concert against racism, she died of a cardiac arrest.

I just heard Mirium Makeba's "Pata Pata" after 30 years, and am sorry to hear that she died. The joy and earthiness in this song was loved by me and my friends for a long time.

I listen to her a lot growing up back home in Haiti because of my dad who was such a big fan of music...always loved this song but never actually saw her performing.....all I can say is: what an icon..Formidable!!!!!
