@ManDorkish Thank you for taking the time to listen to our music. We're sorry you didn't enjoy it fully. Perhaps you could write a tribute song to Janick...
Good job! I want to sing with you 'Maiden long live Iron Maiden', 'repeat the chorus', 'the same four words', 'up the Irons' etc. :) Great idea, you're awesome.
And I thought I wasn't a Janick fan. XD Too far. I expected this to have about 35000+ views by now but I get the feeling most Maiden fans didn't share this across the net because of the anti-Janick stuff.
Very cool EXCEPT for the treatment of Jannick!!! He is awesome and has a place in the band!!! I have been on the barrier on his side many a time and he just nails it night after night. Just amazing that he runs around and moves so much and still hits the notes!!!!!!
As mentioned, Jannick's contributions - Dance Of Death, The Talisman, The Legacy - need I add more? OK - just listen to his solo in Blood Brothers!!!! It is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to watch him play it on the barrier rules!
Janick`s got the energy,i was on the show in st petersburg,it was kinda fuckin` awesome!!And janick makes a lot to drive the crowd, i think it`s great, isn`t it?
To each his own. You must have a thing for 2 minute long acoustic introductions! :) I would say those songs are passable...there are worse. But to compare them to say, Hallowed Be Thy Name, or even The Evil That Men Do, is pretty much sacrilege in my book.
As for live performances, I've probably seem them 30 times and Janick totally detracts. Do you play guitar? It's awful to see. I'll give you he has energy. But it's utterly ridiculous energy. Bruce (FTW!) is enough.
@nvandyk Yeah, I'm a fan of the acoustic introductions ;) I would never compare them to songs such as Hallowed (Not even an an utter moron would), but he has a very big part in "new" maiden. Sure Adrian and Dave are better Guitarists and he always will be in their shadow.... With 3 guitars he needs to find his own niche in the band, and his is going abit mad on stage. Yeah, this does affect his playing when he's running around but I and many other like to see it and some don't. =)
@nvandyk It breaks me black heart to see one talented musician speak this way of another (huge fan of all 4 current Redemption albums and eagerly awaiting "This Mortal Coil" and hoping that your health scare is fully behind you now). Of course I don't play guitar, but I love Janick's 2 minute long acoustic introductions (as well as "The Pilgrim").
Why are you a tosser to Janick? He's been in Maiden for around 20 years and has been involved in the writing of some of Maidens best songs. He's a talented guitarist and Maiden wouldn't be the same without him. It's a shame, this was a really good song, but you ruined it by being a tosser towards Janick.
@4600andy Which songs would those be? :) Maiden's best songs were written from NotB through Seventh Son. Since then, the only one I can think of that rises to the level of discussion in that context is Paschendale.
The live prancing, slapping the strings with the guitar cord and the rest of it is beneath a band of IM's calibre. But I recognize they are loyal to him because he was there for so long when Adrian was not.
Janick's treatment in this video is pretty kind, IMO.
@nvandyk Songs such as The Talisman and the Legacy - They're both freaking awesome songs. A Maiden live show wouldn't be the same without the energy he puts in.
1. Steve wanted Maiden to have 3 guitarists when they started out but couldn't find a third lead guitarist.
2. Janick wrote Dream Of Mirrors, Ghost Of The Navigator, Dance Of Death, The Legacy and The Talisman - which are the best songs of the 21st century.
I was going to buy your mp3 and share this on my Maiden facebook page (has 50,000 fans). After your baseless Janick diss, I'm not going to do both.

I love the mention of The Majesty of Gaia. Not many people remember this wonderfully performed hoax.

There is clearly some malice against Janick. It's not just a joke. Clearly malicious. As andy said, kinda ruins it.
