  • In the REAL ancient Greece, they would have been butt naked, and after the competition they would have sucked each other's cocks. And the woman would not have been allowed to watch. They were very strict about that.

  • @kozmon0t Well someone has a fantasy...

  • Could you imagine if he threw that with 2 hands!

  • dragonball z sounds ftw

  • what a joke! ive seen adam setliff throw about 190 from the stand with the real men's discus rather than that donut reeves is throwing

  • 1:02 That Girl Is So Gorgeous!!!! For Real!!!

  • Hey Hercules, it's a discus, not a softball.

  • ok ok i think we all know that i can beat that

  • how far?

  • Yes, that's Steve Reeves. He was the Arnold of his day.

  • isn't that steve reeves

  • Yes, he had bad form but a very fast arm. There are no form points in discus. One consideration: no coaching is allowed during the competition. He could be disqualified if the officials determined that the gods helped him.

  • he has the worst form I've ever seen

  • pwnd

  • defintely he foul, exiting from the front

  • @crescenti0

I will have to consult AGTFA (Ancient Greece Track and Field Association) handbook to determine if you are correct.

  • @crescenti0 thats not a foul look at were the first guy exits and look at were the second guy faces as he throws. yea so that comment and those thumbs ups = FAIL

  • @TheBrief718 U Mad bro?

  • @TsarevichAdam u dumb bro ?

  • Is divine heritage considered an illegal advantage?

  • lololololololololololo

  • "There was no drug testing in those days, so his mark is suspect." hehe

  • They should of had a buffer guy play hercules

  • At the time, Steve Reeves was the most buff guy on the planet. They didn't use drugs— at least not in the doses they do now. Think how far he would have thrown had he used a focal point back and to the right during his standing throw.

  • WHERE THE FUCK DID IT LAND!??!?

  • universal record anyone?

  • haha

  • FOUL. He walked out the front of the circle.

  • Women were not allowed to compete in the games, so Wonder Woman would have been excluded.

  • Victor Conte could make this guy throw twice as far in only 3 months with Balco Roids.

Also, Wonder Woman can throw twice as far as well.

  • i know lol. image good form.. theyd throw so much farther

  • The officials didn't measure the throw, so I'm not sure it was legal. Also, it wasn't a sanctioned meet.

  • @djo909The form was crappy but you dont have to spin

  • Most of the old Hercules movies were made in Italy

  • Bochie Ball much?

  • Gees I wish I could throw like that with out trying! That's totally upper body! lol

  • .. thats why they names it Longest STANDING Discus Throw in History

  • hahahaha, that form was crappy!!! XD

    He Didn't even Spin!!! Hahahaha

  • this video pisses me off... ive never seen such shitty form. looks like the middle schoolers who start for the first time...

  • It's an old movie. Hercules was played by Steve Reeves, who was the greatest bodybuilder of his time. However, he was no discus thrower.

  • This is Legit, that dudes a beast lol

  • i would only know this because i'm a huge bodybuilder nerd, but thats STEEVE REEVES!!!!!(who plays hercules). one of my heroes

  • Comment removed

  • This excessive pre-throw warm-up and low, scooping action is seen too often in my novice throwers -- everyone should know this is NOT the way to throw the disc.

  • haha what the hell was that noise when he threw it? hahaha

and what the hell was 137 and three quarters? 137 and three quarters of what?

  • miles.

  • lmfao. lightyears

  • @martin04409 lol!

  • I thought movies today were bad....wow

  • There is another GReek movie of discus throwing back in the 50s or 60's. I do not remember the title of the movie but I remembered two guys threw their discus across the sea and skipped on the sea and landed on an isle. I dont remembere a discus with sound effects while up in the air. I wonder if these guys were using CLA?

  • Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

Jason equaled a standing throw by Hurcules by skipping the discus across the water.

  • theres a lot of sarcasm in the comments... it took me a while to figure out it was sarcasm... thought I was the only one that knew it was a movie...

  • This goofy movie popularized the discus throw in the 1960s. Maybe they could do a remake with Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

  • @discusdoc Tom Cruise is too small for the throws, and Brad Pitt might look the part, but even he is a little small for anything but the jav.

  • FOUL!!!!!

  • It's not clear whether the officials marked the throw or if it landed in the sector. Also, I don't think the meet was sanctioned by the IAAF or USATF, so the record might not count.

  • pshhh

    I could do that!!!!

    =P

  • nice measurement

  • Steve 'HERCULES "Reeves

  • he has to be on steroids

  • Dude do you know how many yards this was exactly?

  • fail technique...

  • rofl.... that was such an accurate and fast measurement 5/5

  • The officials weren't certified

  • wow thats gonna be hard to beat

  • Is it Steve Reeves?

  • This guy throws like Michael Jackson...or Liberace.

  • All is well. 5 years ago I was married and now have two lovely daughters. I haven't coached for 4 years and have been really totaly engrossed in motherhood and teaching. Hope all is well with you.

  • LMAo ... no drug testing

  • Iphitus is a sore loser

  • Lol everyones like..... O_O fuck

  • do you guys hear the humming at the end? thats the sound of the discus coming back and nailing that chick in the head

  • they just run out and know the distance...lol

  • This was the first meet to use laser triangulation

  • lol this vid is so gay

  • hercules technique was shit

  • i dont get why he was like my chariot MY CHARIOT!!! i want my chariot!

  • 137 feet! its incredible!...lol

    unless its meters......then its crazy.

  • Greek style discus throwing is still contested in Greece. They throw a 15 pound discus from a pedestal. A standing throw of 137 feet with a 15 pound discus is incredible.

  • 15 pounds? thats fukin heavy for a discus!

  • yo thats heavier than a shot put in high school!!!!!

  • 15lb? thats a rediculous thats almost the same weight of a shot .

  • It's true. See Jay Sylvester's book The Complete Book of Throws. The Greek discus displayed in museums weighed as much as 15 pounds. I threw against a guy from Greece who was world champion in the Greek style discus. They threw a 15 pound discus in the competition. Don't arm that discus!

  • that sounds terrible! coudlnt imagine that even being fun

  • how far would they throw

  • In the ancient Olympics the discus was contested as part of the Pentathlon (Discus, Javelin, Jump, Running, Wrestling), so they didn't have discus specialists. Based on performances of modern day athletes in the pentathlon, they probably didn't throw very far. Vase painting depicting ancient athletes also showed they weren't very big men.

  • Also, I forget how much it weighed, but they threw a much larger, heavier discuss, so it was not the truly, athletic event that the modern day discuss is. As you know, the modern day discuss requires as much speed and quickness as it does strength!

  • 15 lb is 1 stone

  • ok, like I said its heavy.

  • 137 is a pretty good stand

  • They would have measure the throw in pous (299 mm or 0.98) feet. The field wasn't surveyed and the circle was higher than the field. so the throw wouldn't have been ratified by the AGAAF (Ancient Greek Association of Athletics Federations)

  • Hey discusdoc,

I was cruising around and found your name. I believe I have met you before at J.P's summer camp in Ohio. I was a coach from Michigan. Are you the same Discusdoc?

  • I am the same discusdoc. I remember you. I hope all is well.

  • what can we take away from this lesson?

if you believe in yourself, and keep on trying....and never let your girlfriend cut your hair....and dont get swallowed by huge fishes.....then you can be greek some day too.

  • gaaaaaaaaaaaaaay haha.

  • What is it???? It hurts this beautifull competition

  • It's a movie and not to be taken seriously. Notice that Steve Reeves armed the discus and used his legs and hips poorly.

  • yeah that is the sound the discus makes when i throw it. That loud resonating wwowowowowaweawawawawawawaw from displacing so much air. it also sounds like that for long periods of time as in this clip

  • Lars Riedel vs. Hercules. Zeus' son don't stand a chance!

  • @Raikage100 Gerd Kanter > then all others

  • HAAhahahHAHhahahahhhahahah!!!!

  • LOL

  • Thats the sweetest thing ever. I could beat Iphitus. I like how everybody leaves and hes just like, "What the hell?"

  • But also note the mark ... short. Bad marking even back in ancient Greece.

  • I think those guys are still officiating.

  • yeah it seems like it. they have some senile old guys officiating ncaa. i have felt the wrath

  • i aspire to be one of those senile old guys that cant mark a shot put throw, let alone a discus throw. haha

  • hahahaha...thats great !
