Religious leaders dont/cant control peoples life. It is their responsibility to issue a fatwa when new circumstance arises and its up to the people to act in accordance with the rule.

For example, doctors or researchers say that pork consumption is bad for your health or coffee can increase your alertness etc.

Does this mean that there is an obsession by the doctors/researchers to control peoples life?

the problem is so many Malaysians are living in the Jungle. They don't know any other different way of life except the oppressive control of Fatwas.. Some people are living in a lost era and haven't modernised. I mean if some one told you to jump off a bridge, if you had common sense you wouldn't do it.
