@Excalibur685 It brings back the classic Final Fantasy. It is more interesting now with the protagonist as a theif than the usual knight class in the its predecessors e.g. FF 1, 2, 3, 4.

I don't understand why Square Enix isn't giving any credit to FF IX but to FF VII.... FF IX is an awesome game, with an awesome story, not to mention the characters and the dialogues which are always memorable.

I've played final fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, and 12.  All I can say is, this one is good but definitely the worst of the 5.

@HappyHawaiinSauce i've only played 7,9, and 6. FF9 is tops best one out of those. Then would be 6, then Breathe of fire 3 lol, then comes 7. FF9 just has the smoothest game play out of all.

@XxazidxX It's not the smoothest, 8 is the smoothest. 9 is way too slow for my taste. I've had auto haste on with fastest settings, it's still slower than ff8 or ff7 without haste at normal setting

Well if the gameplay is really slow the game becomes too easy. You get too much time to plan, why do you think ffx is so easy? You get infinite time to make turns. ff8 in your first run should be a challenge since bosses level with your characters and you wont know how to fully take advantage of the junction system. The best boss fights are the ones that do uber damage. Challenging, lots of limit breaks, btw you have to time stuff in your limit breaks to maximize damage, not too hard though

@HappyHawaiinSauce ff9 isnt easy. Not the first time around. I failed miserably many times. The first time i played it i had to observe the bosses and then die and fix up my abilities since you never have enough magic stones for all then go back and try and beat the boss again. You can set the ATB option to active instead of wait that way you dont have all the time to pick your move because you'll keep on getting attacked even if your going through your abilities,items, and attacks. ff8 is big:(

@veki6i It was also my first final fantasy game I played! played it when I was 9 (ironic) if you got a ps3 you can buy it cheap on "playstation store" that goes with 7 and 8 to m8.. I play it on my psp now:D love it <3

In my humble opinion this is by far the second best FF game, being the first in my list FF VI, great cast of characters with a very deep development, one of the finest story´s on a game and awsome graphics and gameplay for the date it was released.

Also love that is gonna be avaliable for download on the PSN Store later on =)

Meh. Different people, different opinions. But I personally loved it, and if it wasn't for the existence of Doom, this would definitely be my favourite game of all time.

Or, if you think about it, you'll realise his significance as a character. He is, essentially, God, and his purpose there is to reflect on the good and bad points of humanity.

Necron argues they are a purely destructive force, and by reaching him, they have proven they are not fit to exist. The party, on the other hand, argue that they are there purely because of the sins of one man, and all of existence shouldn't be judged just on that.

Also, the game only took 6 months less than VII and VIII (which both took 2 years). The reasons for this are; because the story is simpler on the face of it, but deeper if you look, so they had to spend less time pointing everything out like they did in VII. They also re-used a lot of characters from previous FF games, so they didn't have to spend a crap load of time of character design. Also, it has the least complicated battle system, so there's also time that was saved there.
