In USA, NASA new about fatal troubles with Shuttles, but choosed to crash them rather than resort to military for assistance.
In USSR, the government ordered to make Buran like a super commercial "our country can do it too" and the expenses. The burden that USA divided upon ~200 STS flights and 6 Shuttle spacecrafs, USSR all focused in single Buran fight and single craft.

Buran is heavier, I doubt the 747 could carry it without consequence. Anyhow, before AN225 they used a different plane (don't recall what it was - some military cargo plane) to carry it around, but there must have been overriding reasons to build a special one. There was this idea of taking it high enough into the atmosphere to have the shuttle start and go into space without using boosters. It never happened to Buran. But Russia does use TU-160's to launch satellites today.

Russia scrapped the Buran because their economy fell apart in the 90's and they ran out of money you fucking idiot. They even wanted to bring it back. The US Shuttle program has had over 130 launches which is spectacular. It is far more economically efficient than shooting say 100 traditional rockets.

Most of the ISS moduels were built by US engineers. The Station itself has very little to do with the Mir. And Russia only has a very small amount of modules on the ISS. Most of the station was built while the Russian economy was still in the shitter during the 90's.

Buran is heavier, I doubt the 747 could carry it without consequence. Anyhow, before AN225 they used a different plane (don't recall what it was - some military cargo plane) to carry it around, but there must have been overriding reasons to build a special one. There was this idea of taking it high enough into the atmosphere to have the shuttle start and go into space without using boosters. It never happened to Buran. But Russia does use TU-160's to launch satellites today.

Yeah, it's so advanced that it's economically infeasible. At least the Russians realized the Buran was a mistake before it went too far. You guys realized the Shuttle program was a mistake only now. I gotta admit, the US is better with electronics, but it's also something that backfires on you all the time. Russia scrapped the Buran because their economy fell apart in the 90's and they ran out of money you fucking idiot. They even wanted to bring it back. The US Shuttle program has had over 130 launches which is spectacular. It is far more economically efficient than shooting say 100 traditional rockets.

Most of the ISS moduels were built by US engineers. The Station itself has very little to do with the Mir. And Russia only has a very small amount of modules on the ISS. Most of the station was built while the Russian economy was still in the shitter during the 90's.
