i have spoken to earnie shavers and he is a close friend of ali, he told me you dont know your boxing, ali is almost 39, not 38 so get your facts right
@arlington33able How is he not one of the greatest men who ever lived? He taught everybody the value of sticking to your beliefs no matter what even if it costs you your freedom..He refused to take part in a disgusting war and kill innocents even though America took away his freedom and his ability to do what he loved. Ali is one of the greatest men who ever lived.
ppl shudnt talk about Ali or Holmes in a bad way... simply put ali was the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES!! Holmes deserves a lotta respect... he was a sparrin partner for Ali when Ali fought George Foreman... and it was commented that Holmes handled Ali in the ring... but Ali wouldn't go all out to win in training.. quite da opposite,, he would learn to absorb punishment and work on his weaknesses.. both men loved and respected each other.. they were friends.. dnt hate ppl dnt hate..
great video man thank u... mayb da music is a bit dodgy.. but still... it dnt matta.. great video.. ali was the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES . but we are all human.. we age and deteriorate.. thats nature..
I notice some of you deliberately failed to mention a little information that is very important. Ali had hired and use Larry as a sparing partner for several years in preparation for his big fights. Hence Larry had learn close up many critical elements from the champ. No doubt this intimate knowledge would have assisted a much younger Larry Holmes fighting Ali who was almost 40 years old at the time of this fight. Ali should never had reentered the ring at this stage.
This video only perpetuates that bullshit excuse-making for Ali, for the moderate validity those excuses have, and more importantly, takes the credit away from a great champion like Larry Holmes. They made Holmes look like the asshole in this fight. Ali challenged Holmes. larry had to fight him and he cried in his dressing room afterwards because he hated giving his idol such a beating. Larry Holmes was an amazing boxer with all the skills of Ali and then some and class to go with it.
@bigmoney749 Holmes did not have much class I can tell you that. One minute he claims Ali is the the greatest and then the next he saying how he was in another class than Ali. He never gives credit to any other great. He is a top 5 heavyweights but seemed to tick me off numerous times throughout his career and post career because of his attitude. Personally I think Holmes would give Ali a harder time then any other heavyweight other then Joe Frazier, because of Joe's hatred and pursuit of Ali.
@HiMyNameIsRoss Holmes WAS in another class than Ali imo. Also, when was the last time Ali gave any credit or respect to another fighter? Trust me, if you were as good as Larry Holmes and you got no credit for it because you were humble, you'd get pretty pissed too. Also, Joe's hatred of Ali did not help him at all. Emotion is bad in a fight. Joe didn't hate Ali as much before their first fight and that's a big part of why he won.
@bigmoney749 Ali almost always gave respect to his opponents after fights, with the exception of Frazier, but even later in in his life Ali would show he had tremendous admiracy for him. Holmes was not "in another class" lets not get to excited. Joe did hate Ali before the first fight, where are you from? Emotion are bad but Joe was the exception he would not give up on Ali because he hated him so much. Holmes is simply jealous of Ali's legacy and it is pretty obvious.
@HiMyNameIsRoss Holmes was definitely jealous of Ali and I don't blame him. He was better I'd say and he never gets half the credit he deserves. Also, Joe may have "hated" Ali before the first fight, but not as much as he did for the second and third. Also, all Ali ever did was yap about how he was the greatest and whoever he was fighting was terrible, even and especially greats like Frazier, Liston, and Holmes. Ali had no class and stupid, fickle people go on that instead of how he fought.
@bigmoney749 I consider Ali a greater champion than Holmes but that does not mean I think Ali would beat him. I think he could but Ali would have difficulties with Holmes' jab. Ali tended to drop his right hand when he used his left hand, whether it be a jab, hook etc. Norton used this to his advantage by countering his own left when Ali did so, and it won him the first fight. If Norton could do it, Holmes could do it. Holmes had the greatest jab in boxing history too.
@turk0571 He didn't get KOd because Larry was holding back. He didn't wanna hurt Ali. He kept jabbing instead of throwing the right. Stop defending Ali and give Larry some credit.
Response to "thepersonyouhaveseen" he says " He's trying to beat an athlete's toughest foe, time" ... Check out my video I edited of Ali... my channel name The Qw82, please leave comments, thanks
I think Ali lost this fight not just because he was aged. It also had to do with his reasons to fight. He beat Sonny Liston through his youth and speed. He beat all those contenders before his exile through his speed and youth. He came back just a glimpse of what he used to be. However he eventually beat everybody there was to beat. This he did for his people and his beliefs. He had almighty God in his corner. In this fight he fought for himself. He still is an amazing man.
@michaelyouth Ali lost this fight because he had nothing left skill wise. On top of that he was fighting a GREAT CHAMPION Larry Holmes who in those years beat every heavy out there.
@CONTENDER791 True, but Ali didn't have that determination anymore. There was no reason for him to fight anymore, but for himself. He could have done a lot, a whole heck of a lot better if he fought for either his religious beliefs or for his people. I doubt he would have won, because Holmes was a fine champion.. There is no doubt though for me that Muhammad is the greatest heavyweight of all times.
Just want to let people know im starting to reupload some of my old videos on this channel. thanks to people like PSNDMII i am able to recover some videos i was not able to save. thank you to all those people who re uploaded my videos. =)
@Jaya365 Stallone is a fool. I thought of him as a good writer, storywriter, but that self centered prick, took EVERYTHING from real boxing in his Rocky movies.. They were inspirational, but if you realise there are real Rocky's , it's shit.. As for Larry Holmes, most of the time he can go and screw himself as he is a dick, but he was a fine heavyweight champion. Still, a 1967 would beat him all night long.
God damn there is nothing Muhammad Ali could not do. He could beat superman if he wanted to. The people's champion. The world's champion. The greatest human being of all time.
I love Ali. I will forever applaud his courage both inside and outside the ring. His grace and skill as a fighter and as a person are something we have lost in America today. Mr. Ali is a true hero. He stood for what he believed in and paid the price for that belief. We can all take a page from this great man's book. Thank you, Mr. Ali. Thank you, Sir.
I don't mean this malicously but this is exactly what happened to Sonny Liston via the young Ali. What goes around comes around even to The Greatest, RIP Sonny & God bless Muhammad Ali
to this day ive never fully watched this fight...i dont intend to ever but dont feel sorry for muhammad ali. not only was he one of the greatest sportsmen of all time, possibly one of the greatest people to have ever lived
It was so sad to see Ali sitting in the corner in defeat, knowing he once was the greatest. What bothered me more was that his reality real soon be mine. When a man achieves glory he must hold on to it as tight as he can because it will inevitably fade away. Truly, our greatest foe is time.
@edgar95035 He's ok. But not in the top 10.. Prime ALi, Tyson, Marciano, Louis, Liston, Foreman,Robinson and Frazier would have killed this bum. He has no class. He was just n oke heavyweight, not very special.

@llamasonice85 He wouldn't have beaten Holmes.....But it would have been a much better fight.....I wish he would have fought Holmes right after he beat Spinks....That would have been his best shot....
@bigmace1000 I was crying when I saw Ali got slaughtered like that. You're right, Ali, in his prime, would've picked Holmes clean like a hungry vulture.
@MadAngelKonneckshun Holmes cried too after the fight because he hated giving his idol a beating, but Holmes had all the tools to beat any version of Ali.
@ederrick987 It would've been a good fight, but Larry would still win. I'd go into the technical aspects of why he'd win, but you probably don't know any of that anyway.
@bigmoney749 would love to know these technical facts you talk of.ali barely had a prime cos he couldnt fight for refusing conscription , yet still beat the best heavyweights going round.not taking anything away from holmes,he was a good champion but ali was something speacial
@thebrooksy011 You want thechnical aspects? Ok. Ali had better footwork and a better chin. Holmes had more power, faster hand speed, a much better jab, and much better defense. Those are the technical aspects of why the best Larry Holmes would beat the best Ali and before you go on about Ali not doing his duty as an American citizen and refusing to go to war, why aren't you saying the same thing about Joe Louis, who did his duty, but still lost good years of his prime because of it?
@bigmoney749 first i not saying the same about joe louis cos we were talkin bout ali.second holmes struggled to lay a glove on an old sick ali with his hands down for 3 rounds.so holmes speed u talk about is false.a young ali would have stopped holmes inside of 8 rounds.prob would have been stopped by the ref cos holmes had great heart but still would have been a stoppage by ali
@thebrooksy011 My point about Joe Louis is you either didn't mention him because you didn't want to because you jerk off to Ali or you simply didn't know that Louis got drafted. Either option seems likely enough. Also, Holmes struggled to lay a glove on Ali for three rounds? What three rounds are you talking about? Holmes was cautious early but he still landed almost everything he threw so my statement about Holmes's speed is still valid. You really should watch the actual fight.
@bigmoney749 go watch the first 3 rounds bone head.he bareely caught him and when he did it was with nothing shots.why would i bring up joe louis being drafted in a discussion about holmes and ali, your clutching at straws here mate.and ali is still regarded as the fastest heavy weight of all time by any one who knows boxing so ya spped point is ridiculous just like ya comment that holmes would have beaten ali in his prime.maybe you live this out on ya playstation at home but thatsit
@thebrooksy011 I've seen the first three rounds many times. Holmes didn't throw many shots but he landed crisp and clean with what he threw. Also, you were yapping about Ali losing his best years because he got drafted, a common excuse that is somewhat valid. I never heard you or anyone else for that matter say the same about Joe Louis, meaning he doesn't need people making excuses for him to be an all time great. By people who know boxing, you must mean people who watch ESPN.
@bigmoney749 you keep going on about louis but he has nothing to do with the topic.ali dont need excuses made for him either.the man regained the heavyweight title twice after his comeback and against foreman who i regard as a better fighter than holmes.all im saying is in there prime ali would beat holmes and thats just off wat we seen from ali.we never really seen the man prime
@thebrooksy011u knw wht? doesnt matter what u say cuz ali is regarded the greates by all the gr8 champions, he wnt toe to toe with the legends of the game and beat thm,he had the heart of a champion, he knw he is going to loose to holmes bt yet he came with a fightng heart nd never went down, its doesnt matter u knw? cuz for the world he is the greatest u can think wht u wnt,he fought for the islams and for the black community and what have u done? boy ur ugly to even say the name of MUHAMMAD ALI
@prosseura hey dickhead have u actually read my comments.i was saying he was the greatest. i said he woulda beat holmes in his prime and i was sticking up for ali when @bigmoney749 was talking him down.i suggest you go get off the drugs before you come back and talk with big boys.and maybe learn to read

@PascalsWager5 Ali was 38 when he fought Holmes , nice try tho
CONTENDER791 1 month ago
@CONTENDER791 Yeah, somebody else pointed that out. I think Ali was 40 (or about to turn 40) when he fought Berbick.
What's with the "nice try tho" comment?
Aren't we just having a conversation?-You make it sound like some kind of competition.
