He changes effects on his voice throughout different songs. Most songs he has a pitch shifter usually set an octave above and below. and then sometimes distortion and sometimes a phaser or flanger effect too. its pretty neat how he does it fucken awesome

OK,l using distortion on your voice is just like using distortion on a guitar, and like using electric drums, it's effects to change the sound of the music, it's not called being a poser and if it is then go bitch at all the guitarist who don't play acoustic. It's the SAME concept, it doesn't mean he sucks or any such thing, it just means that he can use technology along with his skills as a singer to make some amazing ass music that everyone loves, get over it.

not exactly, it is a voice variation, but he never stops, its just he runs out of air and changes the note, i've been doing this kind of singing for over a year, i know exactly how that happens and how it sounds, there's no backing track there ;)

[and even if there was one, its not a bad thing to use them as backings, it would be bad if he was just doing lip sync to a record, wich he clearly doesnt do]
