@labigorda I think Kerin was using size 8 or 9s with a worsted weight yarn. Most of the time, you want to use a needle appropriate to your yarn - however Kerin does give tips for using different sizes when working this technique around things like necklines or ribbing.
I am an experienced knitter and I found this video helpful, none the less. I have always picked up stitches another way but you show that one can teach "an old dog new tricks." This video was professionally done and I enjoyed watching.
This was the only video I could find that showed how to pick up stitches along the edge of garter stitch. Thank you so much for the helpful video!!
