weren't the R33's MADE rear wheel drive? my friend Here in Dallas has one he imported from Canada and it came with a huge ass hybrid turbo and all the furnishings, and rear wheel drive. hes making about 650hp..just about enough to smoke anything else down here without a crap load of money pored into it .
@XxWILL89xX There are a lot of R33's. There are 4 doors. There are 2.5 liter non turbos. There are 2.5 liter single turbos. There are 2.6 liter twin turbos. The R33 refers to the chassis code, which was made 1995-1998 in the GT-R. 1993 up for the GTS and other lesser Skylines. So the R33 just refers to the year/chassis style, not anything else. The car in this video is a 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R, which is an R33.
@zayres29 Well the GT-R is mostly rear wheel drive with a chain and clutchpack in the center diff/transfer case that controls lockup and power to the front wheels. Look up my videos on the ATTESA system.
Hey, I met you at Edgewater on Friday. I'm Mike's friend that was in the red leather jacket. I can't believe how many comments on this vid are just about the rwd vs. awd for tuning.
@tyndago Hi mate would you know what rear bumper that is exactly? it looks like the do-luck kit but alot more subtle. Could you please tell me the name and model of the rear bumper thnx.
Thanks for setting them straight. You can import 96-98 R33 thru JK technologies in bartimore for about $35K. It's best to wait for the 1989 r32 to be avail in 2014 and alot cheaper. I only paid $3900 for mine.
Its not illegal. There was just a limited time when they were allowed to be imported and legalized for the US. You can check out my blogs for more information.
There are cars here that were brought in under VCP-17 in 1999-2005 but that VCP is no longer vaild. It covered 1990-1999 Nissan Skylines, but only covers 1996 Nissan Skylines currently.
to those who think this isnt a real skyline, your wrong, i've seen it in person, its my best friends uncles. i've started it, reved it, hell even chnaged spark plugs in it. it's a beautiful car in person. beautiful car essex if you read this. to those who doubt it, it is a real gtr and it is awd.
Lets be honest thats not a real skyline, but one of those conversions. Why would anyone with an actuall skyline remove the front shaft? This was never an r-33
Let's be honest? OK, you're dumb as a post. That's honesty. It's a two wheel dyno, so they took out a propshaft (halfshaft) from the 4WD diff box so they wouldn't go through the shop door and into a customer's car. Derr.
well assuming that the car is a real r-33... fact is though that, idk where u live, but here where i live R-33 are extremely rare, and most people that I KNOW actually put on those conversion kits on their s-13?s-14? well I'm not quite sure of the model, anyways, again that was the reason for my post. R-33's aren't just a quick grab at ur local used car lot around here.
i dont know where your from ricerslayer but r33 is that model of skyline.. what i think you mean is that you dont believe its a GTR R-33 skyline.. and the dumbest thing ive probably ever heard is someone say people put conversion kits on their s13's and s14's to make it look like an r33... sorry dude people dont do that shit... first off s13's are 4cyl and r33's arn't the best looking cars and they arnt that rare... it would cost more to make a s13/14 look like a r33 than if u just bought one..
2.3 kg/cm . The RB is a long head on a long block. They can lift and crack the block around #4 cylinder. They have a fairly large head studs at 12 mm vs the 2JZ 10 mm headstud.
Guys run ARP head studs for mid to upper builds, then L19 head studs for more serious stuff.
Multi layer steel headgaskets, and the headstuds keep everything fairly sealed up.
for this one, like they mentioned in other vid(different angle, but same car) they took out front prop shaft to make it rwd. i guess shop only had 2wd dyno and left them with no choice :S
i read some were wikipedia i think that 32 33's are 4wd drive cuz they change an r34 are awd cuz they never change. just i no they took the prop shaft out on this car cant understand why thou.. lol
Read my blog and watch my other videos for an explanation of the ATTESA system. The R32, R33, R34 GT-R all wheel drive system is called ATTESA. Majority rear wheel drive with a clutch pack that locks up in the transfer case to drive the front wheels.
Inline 6. RB26DETT. 2568cc. 86mm bore x 73.7 mm stroke. Iron block , aluminum head. 121.5 C-C Rod. Oil cooled pistons. Coil on plug . Individual throttle bodies. All on sale from 1989.
Can somebody answer me this: If most, if not all Skylines are AWD, why can i not find ONE dyno pull vid of a Skyline on an AWD dyno? They're all RWD dyno pulls. Is it so they can avoid the power consumption that comes with using the front wheels? The EVO 7 and 8 guys dont have an issue with making 1000+ hp on an AWD dyno...
Look up Marios R33 . Exvitermini Skyline . Over 1k awd. Look up 1100hp skyline dyno. There are plenty of others. The difference in power shown is pretty minor. About 20 hp for a GT-R awd vs rwd.
Smart ass comment from a smart ass. Someone had to fund it. GTR- 700 was funded by Mario - Exvitermini in the beginning, and "installed" by Cryodon from what I saw. So.... The point was over 1k to the tire all wheel drive. Thats the point. So be a smart ass elsewhere.
Yes it does. It sucks lots of air to make 1023 whp. Some of the air is probably bad, as its in a semi enclosed space. So a little bit bad to breath. Its also LA, and our air quality does suck a bit. Thanks for the comment. You should subscribe.
the moter that came in this car is a rb25 not a rb26 and the rb25 was rwd not awd so if this is a rb26 that would have been pointless to make it rwd lol
The RB26 is actually 2568 cc. The RB25 is 2499 cc. It takes 4 bolts to make the car rear wheel drive. A high power all wheel drive car on a dyno is a handful. Its easy to make a GT-R rear wheel drive. Check out my latest video for an explanation of the ATTESA system, and clutch packs in the center differential/transfercase.
There is a backup power supply in the R33 and R34. If you pull the fuse, the ATTESA system goes into fault mode and puts about 10% of lockup to the front. Not too much, but enough to burn up the clutchpack. I have a video on the transfercase if you search for it.
yea r33 gtr came with an rb26 they even say they took the front propshaft off to make it rwd lol and there is the attesa system as well as tyndago mentioned
GTS-4s also had the same awd system as the GT-R. Even if this was a gts25t, it wouldn't be running an RB25 I can guarantee you that; not if its putting down 1023 to the ground. Probably an RB28 or something close.
ok so wat about filling the gearbox wit shit wen u take the drive shaft out and surely it would piss transmission fluid every were and gtrs are NOT all wheel drive the power is split between the front and rear wheels via a computer. corner fast and break traction on the rear wheels and a certain amount of power is sent to the front wheels and on a straight it is sent back into rwd...
The driveshaft doesn't even come off the gearbox. It comes from the transfer case. The transfer case is attached to the transmission, but no fluid leaks out when you take it off. I will film a video for all the idiots out there that have no clue on how an all wheel drive car works. The lockup of the center differential is controlled by a pump. The pump is controlled by the ATTESA computer. It drives the pump via inputs it gets from the G sensor , speed sensors, and throttle input.
The only problem with a controller, is that an R33 and R34 always have a little preload on the center diff. They can get hot and burn the clutches even with a controller. The safe way to dyno a GT-R rwd is to pull the front propshaft. 4 bolts
Thats fine, if they think its ok. I have been working on GT-R's since 1999. I have seen many burned clutches in transfer cases. Most owners can't tell if its worn, as they never drive the car hard enough to find out. From someone that knows the cars fairly well, you should take the front propshaft out when dynoing rear wheel drive. Not all controllers work the same.
Thanks for reading. I am not so much a writer, but I like pictures, and pictures can tell a story. I have always been on the more technical side of writing.
Meh did some reading and your kinda right. R33 and R34 should have it done with a hydraulic system to be perfectly safe, but ive seen myself and from what ive read just then there are still heaps of ppl who have used devices like the "grid dancer" and have noticed no problems with there transfer.
If you pull the fuse on an R33 or R34 there is backup power that locks the center diff up a little. Its a fail safe system. It does send a litte bit of hydraulic power to lock the center diff up. This is why you should pull the driveshaft on the R33/R34. A Grid Dancer can kill primary and backup power, and open it up safely. I however still like to take the driveshaft out. Its safer for me.
No. Some Skylines are rwd. Some are awd. All GT-R's are all wheel drive. However its easy to make them rear wheel drive. Just take the front driveshaft out.
All you have to do to make a GT-R rear wheel drive is take the front driveshaft off. 4 bolts, and its rear wheel drive. If you only have access to a rear wheel drive dyno, or in this case a big power all wheel drive car, thats what you do.
ok so everyone knows it is really easy to turn a GT-R into full-time rear wheel drive but thats just a Gts-T it has the GT badge on the front guard thats kinda a give away
Do you know what a transfer case is ? Have you ever seen inside a GT-R transfer case ? The GT-R uses a hydraulic fluid to control lockup of the center diff. Its possible to remove the driveshaft, or take away the control fluid and open the center differential, thereby making the GT-R rear wheel drive only.
wow thanks for the info. i have a subaru impreza wrx 199 model fully modified. but was finking of getting a skyline and seeing how beautiful it looks and sounds ima get it by next month. nissan skyline GTR R33 with the Nismo engine mods like in 2 fast 2 furious. that sound in that movie is the best for a skyline
Why are people so stupid? As I recall the only way was to pull driveshaft....R32 is the fuse pullin car...but f-it who cares..that is a BEASTLY skyline no matter how you cut it
If you´d read the facts about the car on the link to the right of the video you can see that GT-R is AWD!! "Drivetrain Layout: Longitudinal front engine, AWD" "The R33 GT-R launched in January 1995 with the base model GT-R and the V-spec model. The V-spec mode weighed 10 kg heavier, and had sportier suspension resulting in lower ground clearance. The V-spec also featured the newer Attesa-ETS Pro all wheel drive system, which included an Active Limited Slip differential.
you guys are all full of shit.... its a gtr, ive seen it in person... ur all just jealous cuz he has a badass car and ur still rockin an eg with intake and exhaust
Any road or track footage or is this just another dyno queen.

isn't the skyline awd?
jakkal256 2 years ago
No. Some Skylines are rwd. Some are awd. All GT-R's are all wheel drive. However its easy to make them rear wheel drive. Just take the front driveshaft out.
tyndago 2 years ago
it's one fuse away from AWD to RWD, know your GT-R, then talk.
I made a simple switch to bypass the fuse on my BNR32, but you have to restart the engine between switches, other wise, get an ETS controller.
TSR001 2 years ago
R32s only had to remove the fuse, but R33s or R34s needed to remove the front shaft.

you can tell its a gts t cause its rear wheel drive and gt rs are all wheel drive
google7486 3 years ago
All you have to do to make a GT-R rear wheel drive is take the front driveshaft off. 4 bolts, and its rear wheel drive. If you only have access to a rear wheel drive dyno, or in this case a big power all wheel drive car, thats what you do.
tyndago 3 years ago
You can disable the GTR's altessa 4 wheel drive system. Do not post unless you know what you are talking about.

you can lock the front brakes, just like they do in drag racing.
brenopaul 3 years ago
ok so everyone knows it is really easy to turn a GT-R into full-time rear wheel drive but thats just a Gts-T it has the GT badge on the front guard thats kinda a give away
1tokoroa 3 years ago
Upper right corner. There is a box. Gray box. There is a link to the build and information on the car. Look at that, and tell me this is a GTST.
tyndago 3 years ago
A RR SKYLINE I SWEAR THERE 4wd ONLY
poisunoskid 3 years ago
Do you know what a transfer case is ? Have you ever seen inside a GT-R transfer case ? The GT-R uses a hydraulic fluid to control lockup of the center diff. Its possible to remove the driveshaft, or take away the control fluid and open the center differential, thereby making the GT-R rear wheel drive only.

wow thanks for the info. i have a subaru impreza wrx 199 model fully modified. but was finking of getting a skyline and seeing how beautiful it looks and sounds ima get it by next month. nissan skyline GTR R33 with the Nismo engine mods like in 2 fast 2 furious. that sound in that movie is the best for a skyline

on a 32 gtr you can pull the fuse and make it rwd, on a 33 gtr you can buy a torque split controller.

tyndago 3 years ago
ok...a 1000 hp skyline i/e nothing till 6000rpm and then everything
glen284u 3 years ago
6000 rpm to 9500 rpms on this car. Thats 3500 rpms of useable range.
At 5000 rpms its about 150 whp , 6000 rpms its about 350 whp. 675 whp at 6500 rpms , 875 whp at 7000 rpms.

bubba2805 4 years ago
Why are people so stupid? As I recall the only way was to pull driveshaft....R32 is the fuse pullin car...but f-it who cares..that is a BEASTLY skyline no matter how you cut it
Racerjames666 4 years ago
I don't know why people are so stupid , but it makes for some frustrating commments. Stuff that makes me want to punch babies.
tyndago 4 years ago
if this is a GTR then why is only the rear tires movin?? real GTRs are AWD? unless did u convert it to RWD?
katam124 4 years ago
We pulled the front drive shaft how many times do I have 2 say this.
RealGTR 4 years ago
lol gtrs are not awd they are 4wd. If u remove a fuse you can make it rwd some people have put switches in the cabbin of their car to make it rwd
NINETWENTYEIGHT 4 years ago
If you´d read the facts about the car on the link to the right of the video you can see that GT-R is AWD!! "Drivetrain Layout: Longitudinal front engine, AWD" "The R33 GT-R launched in January 1995 with the base model GT-R and the V-spec model. The V-spec mode weighed 10 kg heavier, and had sportier suspension resulting in lower ground clearance. The V-spec also featured the newer Attesa-ETS Pro all wheel drive system, which included an Active Limited Slip differential.
fitnessmies 4 years ago
there is also another version made specialy for rwd ....GT are real wheel drive while gtr are 4wd :)

Hontegra 5 years ago
Nice car dude. Looks like a GTR to me but like ya said- what difference does it make anyway. Got any more footage of it by the way???
SeanEB1 5 years ago
if its a GTR why does it have the stock orange indicators, GTR'S have clear white indicators.
VMRO 5 years ago
GTR's have orange indicators. The GTS on an R33 are flush mounted.
The car is a GT-R, and really does it make much difference if it did over 1000 whp ?
tyndago 5 years ago
guards arent even pumped thats a gts-t for sure...u say 1023 in one clip and 1043 in another make up ur mind which is it
tranjohn 5 years ago
It IS A GT-R period.
The video is of the 1023hp pull when all the tuning was complete it finished at 1043 well actually 1044.2 since you want to get all tecinal.
