Ok so before I go get my shoulders checked out I want to ask if anyone thinks these exercises will help.. My shoulder hurts a little with bench press but hurts more with dumbel chest press causing me not able to pick up more weight. Hurts with upright row, tricep French press, and tricep push down with low weight
I've always had minor shoulder pains during bench press, and pushups but yesterday i heard a loud snap and almost tropped 205 pounds on my throat. Hoping this will make it better..
Nice video! Thanks a lot dude :) How many times a day / week shall this program be done? I have got shoulder problems recent in my left shoulder so I'm thinking about using this program to rehab. I'll just train my lower back with some hyper extentions and do some squats the next 2-3 weeks. Is it ok? Merry X-Mas and a happy new year to you and your family :)
before 3-4 months i injuried both of my shoulders. now i am working out normally, but i have a little pain and discomfort at heavy weights, actually i feel my shoulders that they are going to pop out. i cannot increase weight on chest, but the shoulder workout is easier. (i injured them while i was doing shoulder presses). what can i do to fix my shoulders? keep on working out and input these rotator cuff exercises or stay away from shoulder workouts? please help. i will aprecciate it.
I just recently hurt my right shoulder, thank God it was not something serious. These exercises have helped me relieve the tension and pain, thanks for sharing. =)
Hi Scott! I have this injury in my shoulder i torn a ligament, went to a doctor he said tht i should take some drugs and put on a certain cream for like ten days but dont hit the gym for like 15 days so i waited 3 weeks and i just found this video- btw i felt no pain at all after like 15 days- i started doing these exercises and i felt no pain at all except a very very light pain in the exercise at 8:00 so is that a good thing or am i supposed to feel pain to know that im healing?plz reply THX
Thing that sucks for me is I have serioues knee injuries so I cant go do running or leg lifting weights. Now I have a shulder injury now I cant even do dumbells. Im pissed off and now im going to get fat.
hii i have a shoulder dislocation nine time and my doc said me to go under a shoulder surgery but i m just 25 and dnt want to go for a surgery and my dream is to become a bodybuilder so please can u tell me wht should i do to recover fast or should i do yoga?
Im getting a shoulder injury, I've been feeling it for about a weak or two, not painful but very uncomfortable. I do low reps high weight, any advice?, should I stop for a week?, Also, I run with a weighted vest, it puts a lot of strain on my shoulders, not hardcore but I do feel it.
@FFreeLevant ive had a couple, my football coach told me " if something isnt hurting then your not working hard enough" mmmmm fuck that fat asshole. thats the mentality i think that has made me go for that one extra squat or that one extra rep on the bench press till i hear CRUNCH, SNAP Oh shit im gonna be doing alot of crunches and stationary bicycle for the next few months.
@FFreeLevant ha.. ughh.. me too. left shoulder injury last month, still recovering, herinated L4 and L5 the day before 2010 new year, and knees from skateboarding, hurting since spring of 2007. It really prevents you from doing a lot.
@balentongkalabog Of course!! Thanks for asking, but you have to give them some time to heal and eventually you can get back on track. Now I'm more careful in the gym, I do everything with good form and my previous injuries are a non-issue.
"That which does not kill me can only make me stronger"
i heard a crunch noise, when i did an incline chest press. feel a very mild (very very mild) but still a pain in that shoulder after i go 80 or 90% to my max on bench so i dont bench right now. also, on the fron raises, with like 20-30 pound dumbells theres a poping noise and sensation in that same shoulder. any comments or if anybody relates to this please share with me thanks.
@microphonecheck1 only time i feel pain is on flat bench, even on incline i dont feel a thing and my strength in incline bench has been going up, weird!
@ll2k89 i got a hunch mine is directly linked to overdoing the flat bench. its the only exercise were theres pain. i layed off a week, did bench again and the first set no pain, the second set the pain came back a little bit so i called it a day. I guess its pretty simple, if an exercise causes pain, dont do it for atleast 2-3 weeks.
physical therapy is a waste of time didnt work for me,,,
according to various sources, shoulder bursitis can take up to 6 months to fully heal...by the way quick question how often do you perform the exercises for nursing the shoulder?
@ll2k89 no , no doctor, i do a little rotator cuff strenghtning exercie with a cable at the gym once a week. I could go to the gym right now and bench my normal probably with no consequence. then half way through the second set it will get bad. Its a matter of staying off it, because the tendons are inflamed and need to basically cool off from the bench press i think.
just a question, should i do this everyday or just 3 times per week and should i do just one repeticion of each exercise or should i do like 3x18 of each. thank you.
I like how you teach the raises in varied ways by different hand positions. This can give people different shoulder rotation. I would probably also mention where the elbow/bicep or whatever is pointing to avoid cheating difficult areas via pro/supi nation. That said, it could vary the length/tension in the biceps so even if shoulder rotation remained same I can see the value in rotating the forearm.
The rear raise looks good for posterior deltoid (hyperextensor) plus a little extra tricep work.
Thank you so much Scott. Wish I had found this video earlier. The moves really help to reduce the pain and tightness in my shoulders (motorcycle accident).
@Superfitz900 I know, I can even see his infraspinatus working during the external rotations, that's really cool. I want to watch all his shoulder videos now.
Thanks very much for this. I do power lifting and I ended up with a shoulder injury a few weeks ago. I was happy to see that my course of action was the same as your suggestions at the start of this video (switching to DB, lower weight and working on legs, back and core instead of sitting around at home). I tried out the exercise at 20 reps and felt how week my shoulder joints were. You've helped me to rethink my routine and I appreciate that very much. Thanks again!
So scott i wont lose muscle if i dont work my shoulders for 3weeks? Bench press even just doing hammer curls my shoulder really effects it to where i cant bring the DB up... Has a certain pain where you cant really fight it, you know what i mean? aha
Thanks for this injury rehabilitating video Scott.
Since a young age I've been struggling with my injuries (caused b my own recklessness). I get too eager to jump back on to the weights and it's always just reopened old wounds and put me out of action for another time period.
If you have anything to add about wrists/thumbs too that would be great.
ps: These exercises are a lot harder than they look by the time I hit the last couple of sets!
i actually have slap tear in both my shoulder labrums, I am going to try these exercises for a while and let you know how they go. I hope itll help me! so i can jump back into playing sports. do you think these can help fix minor tears?
Thanks men, i haven´t try the exercise jet but I im gonna later today, looks very good, I wasnt shure if it is ok to do some exercise or to just rest for some period ( 2 to 3 months). This video realy clear some things up.
Hey Scott, thanks for making this video. I got a shoulder injury 3 weeks ago and it's still not over yet. The pain is exactly how you discribe. It feels better after doing this excersices. From now i'm going to do your excersice. Hope it will heal me up in few weeks!
I worked at a physical therapy office for 2 and 1/2 years and a tip i would always give to shoulder patients doing the "Cable Rotator Pulls" would be to hold a towel roll or something similar between your elbow and torso while doing this exercise. This teaches you to keep that arm perpendicular and not extend the elbow out. Basically, if the towel drops...you're doing it wrong. The idea is to rotate the shoulder joint, not do a lateral. Once you have to extend your arm, you are rotating too far.
I have been nursing a shoulder injury for about 8 weeks now. For the cable rotator pulls 7:49 my physical therapist makes me hold a small pillow in between my elbow and my obliques. this keeps your elbows from moving so you can focus on the exercise.
I'm so doing this excercises! I'm a tennis player and I recently kinda injured a bit my right shoulder while training...did a bad backhand and it hurts a lot on the shoulder...not good at all but hope to recover so that I can work better on my backhand and serve!
Could you do a video on knee injuries? I used to run a lot but my knee started to hurt a lot and I had to stop, doctors never gave an answer so now, a year later I started jogging again just to realize it hurts a lot...
hey man...tried dis exercise n it awesome, really feel d burn ...i injured my left shoulder 6 months ago, went to d doctor n got an x-ray but d doctor did not find anything wrong...evrytime i lift up my shoulder it makes a clicking sound n its annoying, im guesin i have arthrithis...agen appreciate dis video..keep up d good work!
hey scott. i just hurt my left shoulder less than 12hrs. but i have two question. why my left front deltoid prone to get injury compare than my right front deltoid?( i am right handed person, but i use more left hand ) and my left trapezius muscle always work together when i am doing chest workout? result is my left trapezius larger than right. I really appreciate your reply. Thanks.
Hey, Great video.. iv been having shoulder pain for quite some time now for about a few months i have kept training it by doing swimming and using the cross trainer alot. I have cut out light weights now but what cardio would you recommend for me to do that is a quick calorie burner without futher damaging my shoulder.
You don't know how happy I am to have come across this video! Ive been worried about going to the gym with my sore shoulder. Will follow these exercises/workouts to the letter!! Awesom!! Hermanator, you're the best!! Love from Scotland! :D
I really appreciate this video. I injured my shoulder a few weeks back and haven't been working out nearly as much...basically staying out of the gym using the injury as an excuse. I need to get back in there and start doing legs and core again and lighter weight on the upper body. Good video because I really wanted some good shoulder injury exercises. Keep up the good work! Definitely what I needed right now.
@xXFocusRecord hey man my shoulder started doing that and I ignored it 3 months later i loaded up the bar on shoulder presses and i heard a sharp snap. The next day i couldnt lift my arm up or better yet workout. Its been about 4 months and im still messed up. REST it, you might be overtraining in the sense that your not sleeping enough or between upper body workouts. Take some fish oils and Animal Flex to help it before you get jacked up like me.
Carefull with thumbs facing up or sideways. Its a big difference and engages cuff muscles. Please explain this to the illiterates. If they keep the same weight for cuff muscles they are going to end up having surgery to damaged cuff muscles. A lot of people do not know the difference it makes. I learned it the hard way and wish I could turn back time. Otherwise you seem to know what you are doing. Good luck.
I've dislocated my right shoulder many times before. I just did it again a few days ago. When i go to the gym to work on my back, leg, and core...can I work on my left (which has always been much weaker than my right) or will movements from my left shoulder affect my damaged one?
I WILL TRY SOME OF YOUR EXERCICE THAT I DONT KNOW IM NOW SINCE 1 YEAR WITHOUT HEAVY TRAINING I WAS A STRONGMAN I HOPE IT WILL RECOVERY SOON WITH THE HELP OF YOUR EXERCICES
@Powerlifter666 as im sure your well aware some injuires on for different ppl take a longer time to heal. so just dont give up keep working dont push it beyond ur limits. best of luck n hope for a quick recovery come Join us on the SHF facebook community for more tips! facebook[.]com/scotthermanfitness
Very good. Its helping alot but you for got to tell them that after the exercise/stretches they should ice down the injured area. If they don't inflammation can set in and make it worse than before. This goes especially for the 30yrs & over crowd.
@mpbest9 Good job on the Ice down info. Im sure Scott is happy you looking out . Join us on the SHF facebook community for more tips! facebook[.]com/scotthermanfitness

Hey Scott, i just got one question. This exercise do it everyday or certain day? i have shoulder injury for almost 2 month.. Hope u can help.. Sorry for my bad english
@martasyezza360 i had a shoulder injury i tried to alternate days on excerises. Depending what you particular injury you may want to checkin in with a doctor before trying anything new. Join us on the SHF facebook community for more tips! facebook[.]com/scotthermanfitness
@north925 depends if it is a serious back injury if it is may need to seek medical attention. but if it is just a strain start out with either heat or ice. and some back stretches. hope that helps.. come Join us on the SHF facebook community for more tips! facebook[.]com/scotthermanfitness
I had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. It was awful. The recovery was worse than the injury. A couple of years later I tore the other one. I used a routine much like the one Scott shows here and now the shoulder is fine. Taking it slowly and starting with low or no weights I got a full reocvery. Bottom line - this video gives some great advice.
@JusticeOnTheRocks the advice is great.. glad you shoulders are doing well.. Join us on the SHF facebook community for more tips! facebook[.]com/scotthermanfitness
Thank you very very much! I'm a Muay Thai fighter and have hurt my shoulder pretty bad, when I did that stretching with your hands behind your head; BOOM! Hurts like hell in the area where the muscles are attached.
Hope these excercises will get me back to compete in the sport I love!
hey Scott, im recovering from a rotator cuff injury, these workouts are good for that too right? i noticed a couple of exercises my physio suggested i do
hi just to say i got myself a cool camcorder from livinginhd quality stuff, im 20 and im a personal trainer and golfer and work as a trainer when not away golfing and going to start my own videos and ideas as well as golf tips, i have to say thank you for all this imfo for free awsome. im for next 2 months going hard at the gym not missing any session and some interval to loose some fat so i can have a video body.
I have something wrong right on my innermost part of my shoulder blade feels like it is almost burning, its not all the time & its not so bad but it is annoying
Some physicians are really stupid. My orthopedic surgeon told me not to do any shoulder exercises above my head any more, but my shoulder kept hurting. I started to odo military presses with dumbbells, with light weight, and no more shoulder pain. I guess my shoulder just stabilized with the added mass to my shoulders.
Knee injury recovery please! i've got a badly injured knee but it recovered after 2 surgeries, now im doing my quads and hoping for better results, can you please come up with a good recover program for it?
I have and elbow Injury its hurts like hell the left elbow i was lisfthing wheith and i heared CRAKKKK... and its not broken or something like that it just hurts when i move my arm up please help me how to nurs my elbow Injury
Thank you Scott for your Shoulder Injury segment. It is funny, I was doing exactly what you said in the beginning, I was opting out of the gym completely. I tried the simple exercises and it feels warm and strong in the shoulders. Excellent! Thank you!
lol, when doing circles, only one arm really goes clockwise or counter at a time. So the trick is, can you do BOTH clockwise at the same time! I can, so I'm cool.
Looks like you did the whole video in one long take. Wow!
When I used to have shoulder problems, a trainer/friend had me start a series of rotator cuff exercises as part of my weekly routine. I haven't had shoulder problems since. The cable outward rotation is one of the exercises I do, but I superset it with inward rotations. Then, from a dual-cable station, I do an upward and downward rotation superset with my upper arms held straight out to the side. It takes no time at all this way.
i tore my rotators cough when i was 16 . im 23 now and it still bothers me the odd time. i find that if i progress in weight when im doing a shoulder work out its fine.
i tried your back workout ,i like it "makes me feel Guuwd"bobby boucher
@ScottHermanFitness - you should do one of these Injury videos for people with lower back Injuries. Not injuries where your spine is messed up but you know a minor one or lower back pain.
thank u... thank u.... thank u scott for this video! i felt this video was just for me!! ..i have an old injury in my shoulder that i can not raise my hand up (how can i improve the muscle responsible for that) n am always lookin for shoulder excercises everywhere but dunno if they the right ones :s ...so could u post more Nursing a Shoulder Injury excecises using resistance band pleeeease?
Very useful Video, a while back I tore my rotator cuff and at the same time got a grade II Acromioclavicular joint dislocation-- it's all very fun stuff. Rebuilding for mid/late season thanks for the excercises & stretches. c:
My sister is in a wheel chair due to a spine injury and her shoulder is hurting her. Is their any other excersize that she can do to to help heal her shoulder and build up strength in her arms
can you do these excersises with some weight to build muscles as well? iäm thinking about the firsta ones you did to work out your shoulders becuase they look really effective and easy to do at home =)
Great videos though scott keep up the good work! =D
I have had 2 SLAP tear's and most of these exercises are part of my rehab.

I need one of these vids for my knee
cozz 1 year ago
I have been nursing a shoulder injury for about 8 weeks now. For the cable rotator pulls 7:49 my physical therapist makes me hold a small pillow in between my elbow and my obliques. this keeps your elbows from moving so you can focus on the exercise.

hey scott. i just hurt my left shoulder less than 12hrs. but i have two question. why my left front deltoid prone to get injury compare than my right front deltoid?( i am right handed person, but i use more left hand ) and my left trapezius muscle always work together when i am doing chest workout? result is my left trapezius larger than right. I really appreciate your reply. Thanks.

Thank you these exercises. I have got a strain trauma in both shouldercapsules.
And the shouldemusclels were numb for 5 weeks so that i couldn't use my arms.
Now my muscle is nearly gone but these help me to strengthen them again.
Soor for me bad english.

My right shoulder doesent hurt, but its kind of loose and clicks a little. whats wrong?
xXFocusRecord 1 year ago

Thanks!

Very good. Its helping alot but you for got to tell them that after the exercise/stretches they should ice down the injured area. If they don't inflammation can set in and make it worse than before. This goes especially for the 30yrs & over crowd.
Great vid. This route helps alot.

Hope these excercises will get me back to compete in the sport I love!

BigNWide 1 year ago
i tore my rotators cough when i was 16 . im 23 now and it still bothers me the odd time. i find that if i progress in weight when im doing a shoulder work out its fine.
i tried your back workout ,i like it "makes me feel Guuwd"bobby boucher
