Check out the "Part III" article on the web site - I go into detail on how to make range cards and how to use them. Short answer, you need a data card with good data to make first-round hits like we're demonstrating here.
I had one of the first barrels in the US chambered in 6.5x47 and wrote some of the first articles that were based on first-hand testing about it. I don't really get the argument that using amateur or inaccurate nomenclature would be better than what we said here.
"Team drill"? "Engage"? Your not at war dude. The 6.5x47 Lapua is very very accurate, has great barrel life and is a very efficient cartridge, meaning that you don't put much powder in for what you get out. Great choice.
@skateforgirls13 I'd start out with some 400m - 700m 223 to get your fundamentals down. Savage makes several good STARTING rifles. Gotta work the basics before you go and drop 5k on a rifle.
The Barrett .50 BMG is an American rifle. .338 LM was developed by an American company called Research Armament Industries for a Marine contract and is now produced by a Finnish company.
The .338 Lapua started out as the .338/416 which was developed to meet a US Navy contract. The Navy dropped the program and Lapua picked up the design, altered the case slightly and standardized it under their name.
The brass maker couldn't get the case to hold up to the pressures required to drive the bullet fast enough. The round performed extremely well but still fell short of the requirements.
Please post links (when it is most convenient) from SH and DEMIGOD for reliability of the R700. I would like to review them. I wonder how the Sturgeon would perform, but I'm sure that would be on DEMIGOD as I've noticed them utilized in the SS matches. I wonder how that Blaser LRS and Sako TRG would hold up in the reliability department. Haven't seen any reviews on the Blaser at all.
No, but I like your website and I like that Safari Match. Seems to be challenging with stiff competition. I'll check that out next chance I get. I know the Bolt design of the AI is supposed to be superior in harsh conditions as sub temps or dirt, but I don't plan on dunking my action into the sand or desire shooting in sub zero temps. Your rig is solid though, I have nothing bad to say against AI. I just wouldn't pay that.
Reliability and durability differences between bolt-action rifles are rarely considered, and the results in the field sometimes surprise people. At the SS, it's not uncommon for Remington-style actions to run "chunky" at the end of the day, for ejectors to get stuck, and some trigger packs get jammed up. There was recently a thread on Snipershide about the relative reliability of Remington, customs, and AIs, and some interesting things were posted.
Well Zak considering the R700 has many variations and isn’t a genuine complete rifle as compared to the AI, I would have to disagree with you if given the same funds sir. IMO the AI isn’t worth what it cost…simple. Take a R700 action and 5k (to equal the cost of the AI), and you are left with 1 hole after 5 shots . Take the 700, a McMillan A-5 pillared and glassed, a Krieger, and have Jack true it and put it together. Hard for me to be sold that the AI would be superior.
Blow sand into an AI-AW and a Remington 700. The AW will still work great at the end of the day. Many rifles can be made accurate. Few measure up to the AW in harsh field environments. Have you seen the "Rifle Reliability Highlights" video from the 2008 Steel Safari?
@DEMIGODLLC couldnt agree more with what you said about the AW. Even the AI-AE will stand to the test. To bad i havnt bought one yet, still got my CZ 750. How far have you took your 6.5x47 out? And how do you think it compares to the .308?
"Why Don't" Anyways.....yeah you make them and we show you how to shoot them. I don't if you've heard anything about this action called the R700, but you might want to take a look into it genius. The R700 was putting 30 cal projectiles through nasal cavities from 1k before the AI was even though of. I'll take a SEAL Sniper with an M40 day or night.
To be fair: Malcolm Cooper, one of the primary inventors of the AI AW, was a world champion shooter. And by any measure the AW is a superior rifle to the Remington 700.
We make tons of "our own guns", but there are plenty of fans of European rifles as well. You should be happy your country is making money off the large and expanding US market, when gun rights in much of the rest of the world are dwindling.
im very inexperienced at shooting and was wondering how do you know how much adjustment on the scope you need depending on how far the target is. thanks

@disturbedone5009 so they made prototpye shit right, just like now when diferend manifracturers are taking somme internals from other weapons
so i thought to remember, the fg 42 of ww2, had such good internals, they put somme of it in the m60
but about the .338lm again, why the usa dropped that shit ?

Do you have a rear support bag? It looks like you almost grab it when you are supporting the stock, with your left hand.
