Leaven is always used as a symbol of evil in scripture and Jesus used it as charateristic of evil in the Kingdom parable. Leaven is rotten, decaying matter; the Spirit is life as seen in the pure Gospel message. The visible, earthly sphere of Kingdom activity now is not the same as the "Kingdom Come". The word of God and the true church meet with resistance both from without and within. Leaven is the corrupting from within because of false teachers.

I'm reading this book right now and it's so substantive it is revolutionizing my worldview! The world is always touting people like Einstein, Hawking, Socrates, etc., but there are so many brilliant people in the world of whom we know little or nothing. This guy really recognizes where the rubber meets the road!
