@Yippeekiyay82 Yes, I remember when the original toyline; based on the 1980s cartoon debuted(that just makes me feel old now), but I've still never seen this ad!
The first thing I noticed about the action figure was his bare chest ... without nipples. Did Playmates ever say why they designed him so different from his cartoon counterpart?
I always loved the drawings they animated in the original first 5 episodes, the quality got really bad after that. There were random episodes I liked, but in between the had really crappy stock art it seemed, with sloppy animation. I loved how they shredder had his neck colored to look like a turtle neck in the first 5 episodes too.
The very 1st TMNT toy I had was a Foot Soldier.....I think my parents just randomly picked out a figure and wrapped it as a gift. lol anyhows, manymanymany more figures followed after that.
Yeah, but they sure wasn't in stores long. I just barely saw them once at Target and I bought Raphael. Then I never saw another 25th Anniversary figure anywhere ever again. What's up with that?
I had Shredder. I was so angry they made him look like some wacky statue thingy. 1 arm and both legs bent..wth. I couldnt try the kick azz moves with him, lol.
I still remember the time my Leo figure got both his arms broken of in preschool, just got Donatello left of the first turtle toy line. But hes paint was soo worn out so I repainted him and a Mikey that could in his time move his arm around
i bet it would take more than just one foot soldier to make a stop motion version of the arcade game (let alone 3 for the NES version of the arcade game)
that voice in the commecial is sooo lame..i never herd such a lame dub ::talks all gay and raspy:: " LOOK OUT TUR-TULES!!! ITS THEE EE-VIL SHRED-DUR!!! MMEHHH..." ya know what that voice acter sounds like? that brain from the cartoon!
It sucked that the Foot Soldiers cost the same as the rest of the action figures,I always had to pretend that Shredder dominated with only one soldier.
THAT!!! IS THE FUNNIEST SH!T I HAVE EVER HERD!!! I HAD TO DO THE SAME DAMN THING!!!,sept my one and only foot soldier was missiong and arm.....so he was a gimp....LOL
@danielphilo its because the toys were planned out before the first 5 episodes were produced the prototype toys were made as Toei Animation did the eps, and toei decided to change some colors for the show and there ya have it.
I had a bunch of them. The flaw about those Turtle toys were that they break easily. The hands would come off just like that. We got a bunch of them for Xmas in 1989, but it took a while to get Shredder, Rockesteady, Foot Clan, and Leonardo (until my 7th B'Day in 1990) and that would complete my collection. If you didnt have the Party Wagon, u were wack!
I could never get bebop to hold his gun, always fell out his hand

I can't imagine anyone buying more than one foot soldier toy, cuz you know they were sold separately.

I wonder why they used a completely different theme in the toy ads than they did in the cartoon.

its was supposed to be Krang from the cartoons
Ozimandias84 2 years ago
@Ozimandias84: It was. It was his voice actor. Ironic that Krang himself wasn't a figure until later.

@Ozimandias84: Seriously, I was almost expecting him to curse out The Shredder for reducing him to voice overs promoting their sworn enemies!
