One, feminists are fighting not for freedom from restrictions from their gender roles, but for elitist legislation (VAWA, Title IX, rape shield laws, no fault divorce) and they often base it on phony information, e.g. DV is just men, fake wage gap, etc.

Don't get me wrong. We need to overturn VAWA, find equal treatment in family court, deal with false allegations, etc.. But our major battle is with ourselves. The attachment to chivalry, psychological dependence on women's approval, our own shallowness at times.

The simplest way I can put it is that this is one of those things that won't resolve through cooperation without first enough men showing up for a gender war that they have dodged for half a century. To do that, chivalry must go. After that, perhaps anything is possible. But until enough men start speaking up loud and clear (which is finally starting to happen) it will just be divisive and destructive. But perhaps a little destruction is good for us all.
Does this continue somewhere, or have you not written the continuation yet? Am I beginning to understand correctly that as much as MRA's oppose feminism, they (or at least some MRA's) are as opposed to older male models of behavior, e.g. chivalry? The MRM is a mixture of pro and anti feminists. Fact. You are wrong if you think LAY fems are our enemy. I have read research which found women who identify more with feminism express less casual misandry and hostile sexism than overtly trad feminine types (Goodman & Rudman, 2004). Yes, lay people who identify as feminist ARE more interested in equality than others. Also, feminists less likely to smoke, and more likely to pay their way. Read up on the behavioral science - pro-fem MRAs have!

I do support egalitarian feminist efforts (which conveniently go unnoticed by majority of MRAs). I also support lay people who identify as feminist - as they tend to be more egalitarian by nature than those identifying as antifeminist or post-feminist - and it is these fair-minded types who, given all the facts, and a bit of coaxing down the rational route they already aspire to, will support the men's rights movement.
I would say the four most important feminist aims - which help men, but get little mention from MRAs - are 1. Campaigns to eradicate tradition of selective female infanticide 2. Campaigns for equal female economic activity, 3. Lobbying to increase female combatant front line access, and 4. Efforts to mobilize Muslim women et al away from religion. Long time ago i wrote Marriage off as a Double Edge Blade for raising children. It should present a whole landscape of common ground. A worlds worth. The problem as I see it is two fold. One, feminists are fighting not for freedom from restrictions from their gender roles, but for elitist legislation (VAWA, Title IX, rape shield laws, no fault divorce) and they often base it on phony information, e.g. DV is just men, fake wage gap, etc.
The MRA, on the other hand, too often fights feminists instead of making interpersonal changes. Continued

Don't get me wrong. We need to overturn VAWA, find equal treatment in family court, deal with false allegations, etc.. But our major battle is with ourselves. The attachment to chivalry, psychological dependence on women's approval, our own shallowness at times.
Plain and simple, when men start just looking at women as people instead of women, we will quit catering to them and many of these problems would resolve themselves. But of course that is not a simple matter. Continued

The simplest way I can put it is that this is one of those things that won't resolve through cooperation without first enough men showing up for a gender war that they have dodged for half a century. To do that, chivalry must go. After that, perhaps anything is possible. But until enough men start speaking up loud and clear (which is finally starting to happen) it will just be divisive and destructive. But perhaps a little destruction is good for us all.

Does this continue somewhere, or have you not written the continuation yet? Am I beginning to understand correctly that as much as MRA's oppose feminism, they (or at least some MRA's) are as opposed to older male models of behavior, e.g. chivalry? The opposition to feminism seems to be the most vocal aspect of the MRA movement (based on my bit of viewing of it;), perhaps, because there are more feminists on YT to debate with than knights or traditionalists.

The Man Rights Movements has many intelligent sober men who are genuinely fighting injustices both legal and cultural that are perpetrated against men and boys. There are the genuine wackos and there are the pro-feminist fakes who are out to make the movement look bad as far as I can see from my online communication with a few and by occasionally lurking a couple of MRA boards. There are of course some great dudes who are tired of seeing the regular guy getting the short end of the stick in a society that caters to the whims of man hating lesbian lunatics at the expense of boys and men.

The MRM is a mixture of pro and anti feminists. Fact. You are wrong if you think LAY fems are our enemy. I have read research which found women who identify more with feminism express less casual misandry and hostile sexism than overtly trad feminine types (Goodman & Rudman, 2004). Yes, lay people who identify as feminist ARE more interested in equality than others. Also, feminists less likely to smoke, and more likely to pay their way. Read up on the behavioral science - pro-fem MRAs have!

I do support egalitarian feminist efforts (which conveniently go unnoticed by majority of MRAs). I also support lay people who identify as feminist - as they tend to be more egalitarian by nature than those identifying as antifeminist or post-feminist - and it is these fair-minded types who, given all the facts, and a bit of coaxing down the rational route they already aspire to, will support the men's rights movement.

I would say the four most important feminist aims - which help men, but get little mention from MRAs - are 1. Campaigns to eradicate tradition of selective female infanticide 2. Campaigns for equal female economic activity, 3. Lobbying to increase female combatant front line access, and 4. Efforts to mobilize Muslim women et al away from religion. I suppose the types of feminists busying themselves in the above ways, don't have time to troll men's rights sites and assure us of feminism's good.

1. How on earth does this even relate to egalitarianism? It may be a legit women's issue (one of the few) but nothing else.

My 1st point relates to activism towards egalitarian birthrates (Read 'Bare Branches', an MIT book), or Angry Harry, on why he too thinks there should be LESS men. My 2nd point is nothing to do with victim-fem wage gap excuse, but all to do with can-do women into business etc type schemes. My 3rd point, praises feminists who advocate for equal female combatant opportunities -like turkeys voting for Christmas- and so, however rare, selfless and commendable! There's a tendency for rising MRAs to feel they have to publicly reject feminism, in order to keep the MRA readership sweet. Look how popular the raging anti-fem comments are here! MRAs who reject feminists entirely are no better than feminists who rejects MRAs entirely. Farrell distinguishes between immature and mature feminism, Sacks uses pro-fem caveats, and even Rudov. F4J's O'Connor celebrates Suffragettes. Female fems right back to Wollstencraft have been critical of whore ethic. Good!

@tom181071 I don't claim to be a women's studies professor, but as a feminist I would like to politely disagree about 3. and 4. as mainstream feminist hot-button issues. Mobilizing Muslim women away from religion? I really don't thinks so. Increasing female combatant front line access? Despite what some would believe the military's positions on women aren't a major cause of concern in the feminist community.

@tom181071 To clarify, I mean it only for the extreme cases of serial rapists, and I'm including those who rape men and boys, as well. I know people who were falsely accused of sex crimes, and I know what they went through. That said, I think you're understating the terrible experience of rape victims, and many are never the same after that. Are there many worst things you can imagine a man could do to you than attack you and force himself inside of you?

Having a woman attack me and force her genitals on me would not be pleasant, especially the involuntary erection, like female involuntary lubrication and orgasm during rape - but rape is not intrinsically harmful, and most stranger rapists don't even use violence, so death sentence DISPROPORTIONATE

Rape, by definition, is violent, it is forced, and I hope you would agree that it is a crime that should be taken seriously and have long prison sentences and repeat rapists or child molesters, if not killed, should at least be kept in prison to keep us safe from them. I understand your empathy for the falsely accused, but, again, I think you are understating the horrific nature of rape. I'll check out the book you said.

@nikkiwindham Rape not by definition violent. Stranger rapists sometimes threaten violence, but rarely use it, as victims usually quietly comply throughout, to increase survival odds. Rape is about sex, not power. The Woman Racket exposes many other victim-feminist lies, and is important book for anyone interested in men/women truths versus myths. It took 10 years to write. Its author, Steve Moxon has blog too. Rape hysteria more debilitating to women than rape, and victim-fems make fear worse

Most elite 'type one' lying fems do it for good effect. If lie mobilizes women to become more economically and politically active for instance, then considered a lie worth using. The type one altruist can measure lie's effectiveness on for instance, econ activity, and whilst she may be increasingly aware of misandry side effect, it is a lot harder to measure effect of misandry the typical fem lie creates, so it's politically okay. Men's studies needs to model and quantify misandric effect. How?

All I was trying to do was refute a point by using myself as an example. I probably shouldn't have done that, as every rebuttal I got from that somehow pointed at my history rather than the point I was trying to make. I overestimated the group, thinking they would see the point first, and my history as only a facilitation of the point.

Here in the state I live in we have and industrial prison system that is filled with men reared by single mothers. The last time things were equal between the sexes were in the day of the hunter gatherer societies. I am not sure what your hoping to achieve here....just wondering?

Long time ago i wrote Marriage off as a Double Edge Blade for raising children. Really people need to open there eyes to what really matters and marriage is not something that gives 2 parents the abilities to raise kids very well, all it does is what it says on paper. It's 2 parents who are adults in the true sense of the word. That can truly raise children well. So really all marriage means for children is they may at some point face great emotional pain if mom&dad start a divorce.

Western men of the last three generations have displayed the resolve of jello. Combined with the opportunistic lust of western females, those western men now can merely work to pay the bills of those who reject the needs of those men at heart. Sounds like government. You pay for it, but they rarely ask what you want.
If men take a step back to wait until something changes before they will stand up and reclaim their roles, feminism will advance.
