  • I just saw an ESPN tv special on Rene Lacoste. I always wondered where that alligator or crocodile logo came from....now I know. Rene won seven grand slam titles back in the day....he was really good. Thanks for uploading these historic video clips...merci

  • Don Budge was my neighbor in Dingmans Ferry, PA as i grew up. Right before he passed, he was practically my Granfather.

  • @naggersdeluxe That's fascinating. What an honor.

  • I believe the "four musketeers" Cochet, Borotra, Lacoste and Boussus were after Tilden when he so dominated in the early '20s and were the first players to beat him in a long while. But if memory recalls Tilden won the French in 1930 beating J. Borotra in 5 sets. He would have been almost 37 years old.

  • You realize how absurd of a statement this is, right?

  • WOW!!! This is so GREAT!!! Don Budge's famous leaping backhand and powerful serve that I've always read about but never thought I'd see!! And best of all, the young Ken Rosewall, quick as anything, hitting that same "little" overhead, with superb placement rather than power. Thank you!!!!

  • How I sometimes regret that I didn't choose French as second foreign language at school. Still a very interesting video. It's simply great to see all those legends in action.

And if you don't concentrate on the pros but on hobby players you'll see that the Tennis then wasn't that different from today.
