The brief snippets of similar melody aside, you've basically shown that Oasis are thieves because they stole a 2-chord progression made up of the I and the IV. That would make probably MILLIONS of songwriters into plagiarists (if in fact it were even a valid point). Oasis has already been outed for their share of theft, so I think you can let them slide on 2 chords. Next, you'll be saying that 'Don't Look Back In Anger' is a lift of McCartney's 'Hope Of Deliverance' because they're both in C.

however i am a grade 5 guitarist and a huge MUSIC fan. i know im not grade 8 but i dont consider G5 musically retarded. The weakness is your argument is that you are talking about accidental similarities - and you are no doubt correct to say that with a limited number of chords, there will be a certain overlap. In respect of this song, and indeed many other Oasis songs, the similarity is far from an innocent accident. Noel is on record as stating that he has taken other's melodies and changed them very slightly. It's lazy and it's totally derivative. It's not a mistake- it's contrived.Hence why you miss the point
