I'd give it a 3.5 on Drinkability. Its a good introduction to IPA if you already like some bitter balance, but if a person whose doesn't like bitter and needs to adjust gradually, I'd go with an Odells IPA to get that grapefruit side of the IPA first just so you can learn to adjust. After that, this is very well balanced between pine and greatfruit without being overpowering (though most IPA drinkers prefer that). Good for a casual IPA enjoyment. Save the Maharaja for a special occasion ;)
@JRHockney The Avery IPA is a pretty good one. It's a relatively easy to drink but you're probably right about the Odell IPA being a great "starter" IPA. Cheers!
Sally and I review this brew just before the Bears and Packers game. You pretty much hit this one on the head. I thought the bitterness was an after thought...really at the very back back of the taste. Were you having a bad hair day?
@pinkync I'm glad to hear that I got it pretty close in my review. This was one of my 1st reviews ever and I was still debating about whether to show my face or not. That's why I'm the "mystery reviewer".
@jbrookeiv Haha..I've been cranking out 2-3 reviews a week for almost 2 years so I have done a lot of them. We're both in the same general area of the country so we probably have access to most of the same beers as well. Keep doing your reviews, the more the merrier!
@VideoBeerReviews That's true! Next time I'm in Atlanta, we'll have to get together at Brick Store again, that was fun. We should try to do a joint review as well.
I just had their Dugana IPA and I found that one to be delightful. I can't get Avery here in N.H., but I go to a couple of great package stores in Massachusetts to pick up beers I can't get here.
My Avery IPAs have never poured that clear... and I've had a bunch of them, it's one of my favorite IPAs. I don't know if it's chill haze or sediment but mine have always been hazy an have left incredible lacing. Good review though.
I haven't had too many of these but the ones I've had have always been clear. It is a good beer and I need to drink some more of it. There are just so many great IPA's out there that it's hard to focus on just one.
You have a very polished channel...cheers!

@Batman9571 I would say a low 4 mug rating for this beer.

Here in Canada, it's Keith's India Pale Ale. One of the original brews made for the British in India. Enjoy if you have a chance. Cheers

I need to review more Avery stuff. We get a decent selection down here, not all of them but a lot. Stay tuned...
