My photoshop doesnt show that red dot inside, im flying blind. Thats inconvinient

Make sure that your caps lock is NOT on when you do this...the caps lock being on puts the brush into precise mode, which will always show you the center of the brush and not the brush size itself.

NEWSFLASH:

It won't work with the German layout of the keyboard because the [ and ] are on the same key as the 9.

If you want to access the [ you would have to hold alt+shift and press 9, which access other options of photoshop already.

So if you are using any keyboard layout that does not have the square bracket keys on an own button, like the English/American layout does, you will not be able to access the brush size through a shortcut at all.

One question: I have a German keyboard and the square brackets are the third option on the key, meaning I have to push another key 'Alt Gr + 8' to create the square bracket, and as soon as I do it, it changes away from the brush to the move tool. Any ideas for a workaround for it perhaps please?

If you press ALT + the shift keys, by default the PC have it set to e.g norwegian as default and still english keyboard layout, so after you press Alt + shift it should work, and when you're done photoshopping just press them again.
