  • Nico Muhly's Mothertongue anyone? Glass's influence is pretty obvious now!

  • I just saw the "preshow" at the University of Michigan for what might be the final tour of this fantastic show. Anyone who can, definitely go see this show. It's phenomenal.

  • There were about half a dozen pieces of music which, when I first heard them, suddenly made a new world musical possibilities open. This was one.

  • my favorite song to trip out on.

except i started tweaking from something said.

    i'm good again.

  • This song always makes me think of a man going insane. I don't know the context behind this song or anything, but I could totally see a math major having a mental breakdown to this track.

  • @wormword well, keep in mind that this music is meant to go with an opera, so we're sort of missing a whole half of the picture here. I can't imagine how amazing seeing this performed on stage would be.

  • @wormword

I actually think the music is very nice, even without the opera.

  • I just saw it twice this weekend. first time its been performed in a very long time. to say it was amazing is a vast understatement.

  • @wormword What paper? When have you ever seen this on paper? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This, and the rest of the work is one of the most significant pieces of music ever written (on paper) and recorded.

  • @wgaule "It might look good on paper" is a figure of speech.

  • @wormword I dunno, sounds pretty awesome to me

  • @wormword I think it's completely the opposite ;)

  • Amateurish... really? o_O

Achieve the same status and prestige as Philip Glass and then maybe, just maybe, you'll have the credibility to call him an amateur. :P

  • @Jazzdog40 impoverished had no place in that sentence. It doesn't get less amateurish than a PROFFESSIONAL as FAMOUS as Glass. Now I think you're being close-minded. don't you? :)

  • @Jazzdog40 I personally think people look great naked.

  • People say there are no geniuses born today, but.... pure genius. absolute genius. Yay!

  • Who says that? I personally never say that. Whatever.

  • Philip Glass... Fuckin' Genius

  • This just made me realize that I should go into pure physics and not engineering. Fuck making money I'm going to use my skills to do what I really want to do.

  • look into nanotech

  • @ThomasCBrannan I'm with you on Mathematics. I would rather live with a clear mind that sees the beauty in the world from my door step than swim in a sea of fucking prizes and money.

  • @ThomasCBrannan godspeed :)

  • @ThomasCBrannan Hell yes...

  • our small group dancess too thiss

  • whoa

  • that's pretty much what i was thinking

  • yeah baby!

  • You Can'tHear The Background Voices.

  • I can hear it just fine... are you sure your speakers/ headphones are working correctly? i'm pretty sure the voices just play on one side so that they don't get overrun by the rest of the music, so maybe one side of your headphones isn't working?

  • absolutely beautiful

  • but seriously, this music is fantastical

  • this is as good as drugs!

  • this music goes good with drugs lol

  • Why all the downvotes? That's not an insult, it really does!

  • don't give the guy a thumbs down. He's just honest, and tell's what he thinks right now. Fucking society, you guys actually don't think he needs the thumbs down, but you do it because you have to. This guy leads his life, and this is his oppinion. So stfu for those who are not respecting what someone else has to say, you are al absorbed by the materialistic on status based world.

  • @Onbekend1980

I love you guys who think youtube comments actually matter!

btw, youtube comments do not comprise an entire society.

  • @wmd133 that's a pretty nasty attitude...you sound so patronizing

  • @illgodownswingin

oof. you got me. yeah, that was pretty patronizing.

I agree with Onbekend's content, I just disagree with his form.

  • @wmd133 heh. very nice form. very nice. this might be the first time an argument did not break out over the youtube comment page.

  • @mattin544

Oddly enough it does. Before there was the rise of Techno there was Terry Riley and Phillip Glass. :)

  • @BumLegionair This is BETTER than drugs.

  • i love this. amazing.

  • A rather building movement.
