What was the extra lever on Troy Corser's race bike on the left clipon? Was that a rear brake lever? I read somewhere some racer injured his foot and used a handlebar mounted rear brake but can't remember if it was Troy or not but seeing the lever there makes me think it was him.

I didn't see it and can't be bothered to look, but it's possible i don't know though on wich side it would be best mounted, however alot of racers now use them, the main advantage you get is you still get rear breaking to stabilise the bike on corner entry, withought having to move your right foot from a position it's possible to use the rear break to the correct position to enter a corner, wich is ball of your foor on the peg, moving your foot as your tipping in can upset the bike.

The guy's name I think you are after is none other than the best of the best. Goes by the name of Mick Doohan. He started to use it quite a while after he injured his leg at Asssen in '92. He had been riding around without using any rear brake at all until they came up with the idea. Alex Criville (his team mate) tried to use it but found it didn't help him at all.

Correct, it's a rear brake. I think the rider you are thinking of that was injured and started using a thumb brake was Mick Doohan.
